I just installed the full version of Primordia and when I click the icon to start, I get a long error message that starts with "There was a problem initializing graphics mode 640x400(32 bit) (Problem: The requested graphics adapter is not supported)
And the patch will not install, I get this error: Incorrect version of: C:\GOG Games\Primordia\speech.vox

I am running windows XP SP3 on a Lenovo desktop. I can send specs if needed.

I don't know the answer to the second problem. Regarding the first, can you try going to C:\GOG Games\Primordia\winsetup.exe and changing it to DDraw rather than D3D? Let me know if that resolves it. We can go from there.

[EDIT: Regarding the second problem, it appears to be a known issue, at least others have had it too: http://www.gog.com/forum/primordia/patching_to_2035_problem

Can you try messaging them and seeing if any were able to resolve it? If they weren't, I will try reaching out to GOG support, as it seems to be a GOG-related issue.

Thank you for your reply and I apologize for not answering. I only now found this. I solved the problem by installing it on my Windows 7 computer and it played fine. I can't say it was XP, as it could very well have been some hardware setting. Thanks for trying to help. I finished the game and it was great!

Glad it got resolved, and I'm especially glad you enjoyed the game!

Okay, I'm having a similar issue. See below for the attached error message.
Be forewarned I'm fairly n00bcore when it comes to fixing software compatibility.

I'm using Windows 10, on an Intel i5-5200U 2.20GHz laptop.
I installed properly into C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Primordia
This error message came up immediately upon first launching the application.
I also bought Resonance (from Good Old Games as well) and have the exact same issue.

Please know that I've posted this issue at the developer's forums.

Please help! I've heard such good things about these two titles,
and i'm really looking forward to playing them.

Thanks in advance!

Okay so I got a quick turn-around to my query on their developer boards.

Turns out, i needed to go to the install folder...
C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\Primordia

...and modify the settings in the 'winsetup' file. The following attached image
is a snapshot of what worked in this situation.

These settings are perfectly working for me too. Had the exact same problem as discussed here several times, tried out nearly every combination of Direct3D/DirectDraw and graphics filter ['cause I didn't want to mess around with the windowed mode]. DirectDraw 5 with Hq2x filter worked - while Hq3x didn't!

Machine is an AMD Fusion E-450 with Radeon 6320 on a 1280x1024 Display.

Looking forward to the game now! [:

Excellent! We're lucky to have fans who provide such excellent tech support. :D

That surely was a fast response! ^^

After a little bit of further investigation it turned out that my ultra low tier graphics card [or the driver, who knows] doesn't like the higher filter settings. 2x works in every mode, even with Direct3D.
Now I'm only left with the difficult decision how I want the game to look. The different filter modes seem to present you with a completely different looking picture, with the Hq filter being the strangest and intensifying the curious world you're confronted with. But I think at this late time of day I tend to prefer the more conventional approaches nearest-neigbour [classical] respectively anti-aliasing [modern].

I strongly dislike the filters. I think there is an argument, albeit not a very good one, for D3D (which shrinks the sprites' pixel size when they get smaller, such that they increase in resolution and you don't lose detail) + anti-aliasing (which makes the sinuous, organic lines look less jagged). But the various Hq and Sai filters just look ridiculous to me. :) I've typically played in D3D and nearest-neighbor enlarging.
