Thanks for your support. I will try the updated game as soon as poosible...
Very nice!
Sweet, thanks!
Music is working now, but I discovered something weird. The music during the race is very quite and when I try to adjust the music separately, both music and sound effects are affected. I mean, when I turn down/up the volume for music, sound effects are affected as well and vice versa. Is that normal? Because in that case, I cannot set the music louder during the race... engines will always stay louder than the music. Hmmm, strange...

Interesting. I'll pass this on to my friends at work tomorrow and see what they have to say about this :D Thanks :D

I already replied to the mail they sent me as response for my ticket - so I'm pretty sure they will know already tomorrow ;-) It's not that critical or game-breaking. Simply strange...
Whoops; I didn't think to back up my saves and options before installing that. I guess it's been a while since I've reinstalled a game which actually overwrote those files rather than creating them when running the game. A bit archaic, that; but never mind -- it's not like I'd managed to win the expert championship, so no harm done.
Just a short update from GOG support: The concurrent changing of volume of music and sound effects is the way the game itself works. Happy racing everybody.

This isn't the case in the original release of Powerslide. There you can change the volume of effects and music independently.

Yeah, you have still two independent "switches" to change the volume. But decreasing sound volume results in a decrease of music volume, too. And turning up the music results in turning up sound simultaneously again - at least at my system. However, I don't really mind, because the music is playing and the game is great. But of course, it would be fine to have this glitch corrected, if it's possible...
Hm, I just remembered that in the original release the music tracks were in fact cd-audio tracks, whereas in the gog-release they are mp3s. I guess that's the reason for the current behavior.
I'm having the same problem with music/sfx. As soon as I go into a race the master volume drops dramatically. Even with my laptop volume up all the way it's still too quiet. Interestingly if I go into the options the moment I click on a volume control the music goes back to normal. I return to the race, it drops again. Weird.

Did you install the game with the latest version of the installer for Powerslide we uploaded not too long ago? The update specifically addressed the music problem. If this persists even with the latest version, please write to our Support department about this and make sure to attach a DxDiag file to your email. Thank you :D

I did uninstall the game, and then redownloaded and installed the latest version, but nothing changed. Actually, I found out yesterday that after I installed nGlide 1.00, addressing a problem in a different game, that my audio volume levels were fixed! Maybe it had something to do with when the glide wrapper gets enabled when entering a race...
