For those of you that are buying SWAT 3 for the first time, you should know that as of my current knowledge, its Internet play capabilities have been long useless due to the closure of the WON system that it was dependent on. If GOG has changed this, then we may very well be in the grasp of a massive SWAT 3 comeback.

If not, don't despair. Many groups have gotten online games going through VPN software like Hamachi and Tunngle. In either case, I want to organize some regular SWAT 3 multiplayer with you folks. If you want, we could even go as far as organizing with ranks and such. I would have no issue with hosting a server on my laptop, provided that I'm contacted whether by GOG's PM system or IM (cy-fox@live.com for WLM and MilesProwerCyFox on AIM). I do have a class that I have to attend between 5 and 7 PM EST Monday through Thursday but otherwise unless I have to leave for somewhere, I can set something up.
Tunngle has been working great for me and a few guys with Elite Edition installs but the GOG version doesn't seem to work. Anyone who hosts a LAN game with the GOG version gets the 'red' server name, indicating some kind of incompatibility.

We're still trying to sort through this to get the GOG version working.
Have you tried this GOG to GOG? Have you accounted for the possibility of mods being used?

Yeah, we were doing GOG to GOG, vanilla. Version 2.1 in the options menu.
So I know that I have an incompatibility with Last Resort installed unless the 2.2 version number is strictly cosmetic. Have you put a support ticket out? I also reckon that maybe we could involve people from SWAT 3 Reunited to help figure this all out. I'm not a mod developer myself, just a simple technician, but I figure that if anyone would have an idea of what's up aside GOG's staff, it'd be those guys.
Can't get multiplayer to work with the GOG version.
I tried EE to GOG version and it didn't work so I tried vanilla GOG to GOG.
Didn't work. I Tried XP to W7, W7 to W7, and XP to XP.
Every bit of data matched yet I was told it was incompatible data from the red text info.
You would think the GOG version would be a bit-by-bit copy all across the board from system to system.
It turns out SWAT 3 assumes that the unins000.dat file, created by all our installers, is a MOD file. A non-GOG version will not have this "MOD" and therefore will be deemed "incompatible"...
We will reupload a new version of the installer soon. It will put the uninstaller files elsewhere, so the problem will be gone. In the meantime, there are two ways to get around this:

The easy way: go to your SWAT 3 folder and move any file called "unins000" to a different folder.

The proper way: go to your SWAT 3 folder and rename the unins000.dat file. If you can't see this file, you may have to enable displaying hidden and system files. You can find the appropriate settings by opening any folder and selecting Tools -> Folder Options... -> View tab. On Windows Vista and 7 you may need to press Alt in order to display the folder window's toolbar.

Of course you will have to undo these changes, or install the updated installer on top of your current version, if you want to uninstall the game later.

Much appreciated Firek. Get a well deserved pint for you and your party.
WIll you post in this forum Firek on when the new SWAT 3 installer will be up?
Changed the .dat to .bak and it connected with no problems. Tested W7 to W7 and XP to W7.
Thanks!
Oh hey, noice.
Just tried this and it didn't work. Any advice?

EDIT: Well now we can actually connect but the game is stuck in loading screen.
It says Waiting for clients for me and Initializing on my buddy. Thoughts?
