This is the main issue with alot of old games the out of date video (and audio) codecs.

one solution is posted here-
http://www.gog.com/en/forum/swat_/swat_3_dderr_generic_error_solution

another one which might also fix the swat 2 movies problem is to install the indeo codec (the old version) u can download it here-
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Indeo_Codec.htm

it might not register with windows so U need to manually register it
1.open a command window -
press start button and write in the search box "cmd" a cmd.exe will show, right click it and open as adminsitrator.
2. write regsvr32 ir50_32.dll it will register the codec with windows
3. play :)

got it here-
http://www.leanerminds.com/swat3/swat3_vistafix.html

same problem with sin (old shooter) its not showing the movies and getting stuck.
the fix for this is to make a shortcut of sin.exe and add +menu_main as in
"folder\sin.exe" +menu_main.
With latest nvidia drivers most old open gl don't launch it can also be fixed.

Its a 2 for 1 post :)

If anyone need assistance with one of those U can PM me.
Codec installation seems to get stuck on "Searching for instances of Netscape". The one for Swat 2.
The Indeo Codec installation will search your harddrive for netscape stuff but it will eventually go away if you wait. (Might take some time though... probably scans your entire system disk)

"it might not register with windows so U need to manually register it
1.open a command window -
press start button and write in the search box "cmd" a cmd.exe will show, right click it and open as adminsitrator.
2. write regsvr32 ir50_32.dll it will register the codec with windows"

This gets you as far as seeing the videos but not hearing them... so you need to manually register also the audio codec:
1. Run -> cmd
2. regsvr32 iac25_32.ax
3. Profit.

Now you should not only see but hear the videos as well! Enjoy!

Instructions above have only been tested with SWAT 2 by me.
