I'm staying on the fence of buying it right now just because of the mixed reviews it has. Is it worth getting over the original one?

It's quite a consensus among reviewers that the Enhanced Edition improves on the original but doesn't add enough to justify spending much extra money if you already own the original.

I can't compare the EE to "the first one with mods" since there are are tons of modding options about which opinions differ.

Well, since the original ain't available anymore through legit means, I'm wondering if the game really is worth the asking price. Seems a tad too high.

The game is good and big enough to justify its price, you can add it to your wishlist to get informed when there is a sale offer.

It's a little nicer to navigate the menus etc. (as they're not scaled like they are with the original + widescreen mod), you can zoom in/out, and press tab to view doors/containers - that's about it.

It's a better product than the BGEE's, but if you're happy with the original + mods, I wouldn't say it's worth the price - wait till it's on sale for $5, maybe.
