I noticed that the Steam version of this game lists 50 Steam Achievements. Does the GOG version include Galaxy Achievements? It really fucking bugs the piss out of me when devs don't include achievements on their GOG versions but have them on Steam. To me, that is the same thing as offering Achievements on Xbox not PlayStation.

Right now there is no visible achievements info in Galaxy on game page :( I hope they will add them later.

Not polluting it with achievements is a feature, not a bug.

Just because you don't like achievements doesn't make it pollution. The version from Steam has achievements, so why shouldn't the GOG version have them as well? They only work in Galaxy anyway, so if you don't use Galaxy then you wouldn't get them. Also, its not like you can't ignore them if you do use Galaxy. I used to be such a purist like yourself, but that was 10 years ago. Now I like achievements, as do many others. Its an added benefit to get more gameplay out of a game that you love. If a game sucks, achievements aren't going to fix that, but PST is one of the best games of all time, so adding achievements isn't going to hurt it.
I agree. Achievements are just another feature. If you don't like them you're free to ignore them because they don't affect the game. But for the Steam version of the game to have achievements and for the GOG version not to makes it seems like we've got an inferior version of the game for choosing GOG. They should add support for achievements with GOG Galaxy and correct the spelling errors in the acting credits.

Why though? You like cheap psychological tricks added to your games?

How? By encouraging different gameplay styles and challenges that people already do anyway if that's what they want to do?

Disagree. In the case of the Steam version, you have no way to play without achievements. Achievements are annoying. Thus, in my opinion at least, achievements hurt the Steam version of the game.

To answer your first two questions, that's like your opinion, man, and mine's different. Now your third remark is just silly, because this isn't the Steam version. Steam limits things, GOG doesn't. Achievements are optional. So I again assert that the devs adding GOG Galaxy achievements is a plus. For those that like them, it is a benefit. For those that don't, like yourself, it doesn't fucking matter because you can turn them off from Galaxy, if you're even using Galaxy, since its optional too. Options are a beautiful thing, right? Why limit people's enjoyment because it doesn't fit with your personal preferences?

Whilst I agree achievements are a toxic plague, they aren't that annoying, if you just turn off the steam overlay.
It still records them on the Library page, but by starting the game with a Desktop shortcut, you will never see them.
In game, or out, at least for single player games.
You're still screwed in Multi-Player, but I won't even play MP, if it requires any store client

At least Galaxy allows you to turn all achievements off, not that I would ever use Galaxy.
Offline installers = No achievements on GOG = PureGasmes = The Way it's Meant to be Played !

Agreed. Thanks for pointing it out!

Since I just posted about GOG achievements in the Baldur's Gate forums (turned out to be a great read), I guess it's the right thing to do here as well.
