Does Planescape Torment work with Win8? A couple older games I've tried have failed miserably no matter what with the OS.
I've just installed it and played for an hour or so without any problems (Windows 8 Pro 64bit).
Thank you.
It does seem to have a few issues, though.

Some Sprites (?) don't work correctly, for instance, the mouse cursor has its square around it being shown when you move it, flickering. It should be invisible, normally. Also, the desktop will be visible under the game in spots now and then.

I also had the game not reacting when you move the cursor to the screen's edges which should normally move the screen around the map.

Few other issues now and then, basically, it's kind of a pain to play it like that. Wish it would be a bit better optimized for Win8, especially with touchscreens. I mean, this sort of games is perfect for touchscreen controls, but, of course, the game is like a hundred years old and Win8 only newborn, so we can't really expect too much.

Based on that math, Windows 8 is about 98 years old ;)

I've 64bit 8 on a laptop with NVidia and intel HD 4000 and I havn't had any issues yet.

Do you have multiple GPUs? That sounds similar to issues the game has when there's more than a single GPU running. You can force it to run with a single GPU.

What I meant was that we can't expect such an old game to support touchscreen controls perfectly with devices and operation systems who use them only this new. ;)

@delicieuxz: How would I do that? Sorry, the last time I was really into PC gaming was when multicore computing would've been two computers next to another on the desk.^^
I'm currently having issues getting the game to run on Windows 8. I get the assertion 969 error with the black and green screen.

I've tried clearing my temp files, installing on my removable hard drive, and running as an administrator.

All that I've added on top is Bigg's widescreen mod. Any help would be appreciated.
you entered an unsupported (by your graphic card) resolution for the widescreen mod
That's what I've been seeing online, but I put in the same resolution that I use on my monitor: 1920x1200.
That's why I've stumped, I haven't put in a resolution that the computer isn't already using.

Note: I am using a laptop that outputs to an external monitor which has a higher resolution than the laptops.
Also, would the fact that the laptop uses the Nvidia optimus system be part of the problem?
