Since I recently upgraded my PC setup, I now play in the livingroom with a 55" 4k TV with sound over HDMI and a RX 570 in my PC. I wasn't happy with the performance of my previous .confs for these games (and I will probably make changes to other games .conf files as well in the future).
Where I had serious problems with sound stutters with openGL when sound played directly over the rearpanel connectors I have none of these issues when I play sound over HDMI, so that is a big bonus.
Also I found gameplay to be a lot smoother now but I also do not make use of the full 4k or even 1080p capabilities of my TV, I just set a fullscreen resolution of 720p, which is more than enough for any dosgame.

To install just copy the .confs into the game installation folders, make backups of the originals if you want.

Pinball Dreams Deluxe

Pinball Fantasies Deluxe

Note for Pinbal Illusions:
This game is a bit finicky, the intro makes heavy use of resolution switching which modern displays have trouble with, so there isn't a lot that can be done about that, just press SPACE as soon as you hear the introsong.
If the menu is out of whack, then it's probably the intro which messes things up, press Ctrl+F9 and restart the game and skip the intro as fast as you can.

Pinball Illusions

Note that I've set the fullscreen resolution to 1280x720, so if you have a screen with another aspect ratio than 16:9 you should enter another resolution (e.g. 1280x800 if you have a 16:10 monitor) but don't go all crazy selecting HD or 4k resolution because then you'll most probably run into performance issues.

I made some changes, see the OP for what it's all about.

Thanks, I was just about to open a thread about my resolution problems and that I couldn't manage to fix them.

Your configs made it better, as my display is not as cropped/warped as before vertically, it's now centered, and the game is actually playable in windowed mode now. (It's easy to check when looking at the pinball, as it's supposed the be round.)

I still have to tinker with the configs for me here to actually play in fullscreen, hm.

If anyone figured out a nice fullscreen config for a 1920x1080 display, please let me know.

Have very fond memories of these pinballs, including a familiy-spanning competition for highscore.

Hi,

Do I understand correctly that you want a stretched 1080p image without the black borders?

If so edit the .conf and set fullresolution=1920x1080 and aspect=false.
Note that these were originally Amiga ports which use different resolutions (and aspect ratios) than IBM compatibles so you may still have little black borders on the sides.
I also wanted to say that in my experience the higher the resolution you enter in dosbox the more the performance of the game suffers so I intentionally kept it low as I don't see much difference in an upscaled image from a game that was lowres to begin with.

Even joyToKey works with it now.

Simple, there is a "Settings" shortcut in the Windows startmenu for Pinball Illusions. ;^)

yeah but it was showing only the left half of the screen with the config I downloaded.
I got it working now but I had to go back to the default config and a little edit in that.
