Ok characters all fine, game is progressing ever so slowly down that massive ass dungeon. I understand the stats like Will, Reflex ect.

Stats:
What I do not understand is that lets say my main char uses an enchanted pike, its obviously a piercing attack. When you see the 4 different stats Deflection ect, does your weapon automaticly target the weakest stat while their attack targets your weakness?

I find this to be the most important cause im having trouble killing these lightning bugs (I know how to dodge the lightning attack ect) but they take massive beatings as if my weapon does nothing and Ive enchanted it with stuff ect)

Weight:
Is there a carry weight? Ive been looking for some sort of carrying capacity info in my inventory/char sheet ect but nothing. My massive chest must be enchanted cause of all the junk I just throw in there and not feel any penalties.

Pets;
Do they die? Im affraid of putting that black cat or the drake as my pet and getting it killed :P Or do they just wander for fun like the space/hampster pig equipped.

Games prettty fun, love the artwork and new races and enemies. Probally my only dislike is the camping feature because I find it utterly rediculous that my characters can not simply sleep on a dungeon floor which is probally more safe without a massive bonfire going. Its incredibly annoying that the max camping gear is set to 4, and having to travel all the way back because my mage needs to rest or hes maimed cause every enemy teleports to tries to swallow his soul first.

Edit; seen some other forums refering to DPS. What the hell is DPS and what exactly do ppl mean by tank (as in is it just a character with a tonne of health?)

Carry weight: on harder difficulty levels your "massive chest" can only be accessed in certain maps. On the rest of the maps only your character's inventory is available. But on lower difficulty levels it's.... yea, your inventory is unlimited :P

Pets don't die. They are just decorations. Once one of my companions commented on my space piglet, but that was my pet's ony contribution towards the game besides looking pretty.

Being able to sleep everywhere would be.... op much :P

DPS = damage per second.

Tank = character with tons of HP and good armor. Send your tank forward, and while the enemies are busy with it, your more fragile characters take them down from a safe distance :P
I use my ranger's companion as tank. I sent it forward, the enemies all attack my animal, meanwhile I shoot arrows from safe distance.

Can't really help with stats, I'm still learning most of the rules myself =/

No there is not a carry weight, only the space in each characters inventory slots is obviously limited. The stash has unlimited space. You only have to sell stuff to make money or to dump all the crap you don't want anyway. You could put every item in there you find during the whole game if you wanted to.

No, pets don't die, they are just there for the fun of it. Choose the one you like most or none, whatever you want.

Yeah, tank just means a character who can take lots of damage before he dies.
Concerning weapon stats.

You have weapons which do slash, piercing and crushing damage. Some weapons can do two types of damage, for example, slash and pierce damage.

So lets say you are fighting an enemy who is resistant to slash damage and you are wielding a weapon which does slash and pierce damage. In that case, you will do damage to which the enemy is LEAST resistant to, in this case piercing damage.

I hope this makes sense to you. =)
I agree with the OP about limited camping being annoying.

depends, if you think like it was in baldurs gate (lets face it they use the same music) you could sleep to just get your spells back (not health) and/or sleep untill healed. However the longer you slept you would get random encounters with enemies ect especially in high risk areas.

Obviously wouldnt get any benifits like a bed, even the cheap common room has the added bonus of being in a safer enviroment.

Oh and yeh my main char is a tank. Fighter/soilder with pike and soilder skill trait. uses warhammer and shield for crushing damage agaist things like skeletons.

There's also things like a greatsword which does Pierce/Slash-Damage inherently and has an additional Crush-Enchantment. Found rather early in the game.
Although you didn't specifically ask for it, let me give you one more tip that should be useful.

Item attributes don't stack. You can't have a ring, cape and an armor that all promise, say, +5 Reflex boost. Or actually, you can, but the total gain you get from those items is +5, not +15. If you look at your character screen: if any of the abilities says "(Suppressed)" that means you have one or more items that don't actually do anything. I've already done everything in Defiance Bay, yet hadn't learned this until last evening. Major re-setupping gear had to be made :P

What I'm saying is, giving (for example) all Might-boosting gear to your barbarian in hopes of getting his might through the roof, will not work. Only the biggest bonus will be applied (A character with a hat that gives +3 might, gloves that give +2 might, and a ring that gives +1 might, gets a total of +3 might).

edit: Regarding the first question. Deflection shields you from direct attacks (melee and ranged). Fortitude helps with poison. Reflex helps against AoE attacks (big blasts). And finally, Will boosts your resistance towards mental attacks (Charm, etc.) Therefor, attacks don't "attack the lowest stat"; they attack the corresponding defense. I.e pike attacks are calculated towards your deflection stat. Yet, the "flavor" of a pike attack is indeed Piercing damage, so if you have additional defenses against piercing attacks in addition to your Deflection, you take even less damage. That's how I understand it, at least.

When you equip something with some kind of benefit, keep your eye on your stats to the lower left of the screen. If nothing changes, give the item to another character. (another low-tech solution)

It's not flavor : Deflexion is the defense used to dodge/block enemy "physical" attacks, sure, but if you're hit, armors will always stop a few points of damage. And most armor have different ratings against crush, pierce, slash, fire, shock (electricity), etc...

For example, a chainmail with a rating of 10 (slash 14, pierce 7) will stop 14 damages from a slash attack, but only 7 from a piercing attack, and 10 from every other kind of damage, like a fireblast from your wizard. So if you use a sword with slash/pierce and inflict 20 damages, it will use the best kind of damage against this armor (in this case, pierce), and the enemy will lose 20-7=13 hp.

Those kind of calculations can be seen when you hover your mouse pointer over an attack message. Defenses and armor ratings are also pointed out in the target window if you know this kind of monsters (or if the monster already soaked a few attacks from those sources)
