Collector: Should work, now.

Wealin: thank you,thank you,thank you,thank you,thank you!
I'll try it now!
EDIT:
WOW!
THE GAME looks 300% better, way, way, way, way, way, way, way, better.
The game is running fine with all cinematics playing when they should. I don't know what happened at first. At the first try it was skipping the cinematics, now on the second try it is playing them. I'm running Windows Vista 64 bit.
The game crashes when trying to restore.
I hope this feedback can help you guys.

I've just installed the gog phatasmagoria patch for non interlace windows version,it crashes to the desktop while trying to restore it does anyone have a solution yet?
This is the error I got-
Error 47 not an object:$511e
D:\Sci32\Test3\Asm2cpp.cpp(73)
script #0($fc28fb8c+)
I've attached an image, the odd thing is I don't even have the game on a D: drive so where did it came from?
Attachments:
Yeah, that happens for everyone. No known solutions exist, unfortunately.
Still waiting to hear from jafa about this. He has been too busy at work to give this any attention.

Any update to add on this? It has been referenced in another thread and folks obviously want to play the way that has better video quality...
I've played the Windows version of this back in the day. Perhaps it's just my failing memory, but I don't remember the game looking any better than the DOS version does. I also seem to recall that it had random crash issues, especially near the end of the game. Sierra released a patch at some point, but I doubt that's still available on their support site.
Playing it within DOS and playing it with the SierraW.exe windows executable, the difference is glaring, trust me. Windows plays the FMVs at a higher bit-depth, without scanlines, and - for me at least - at a better brightness level.

But of course, using the windows executable prevents you from saving/restoring the game - and thus, we wonder if any progress has been made in this regard?
I guess there hans't been any progress on the save / load issue? Too bad :(

The official GOG-version of Phantasmagoria 2 uses DosBox, so there is no problem running it.

This thread is about a patch to make the windows executable runnable with Win7, because the windows version of Phantasmagoria has a better video quality. It's just the try to improve the quality of the release, nothing more.
Yes the game definitely runs on a Windows 7 64 bit system, but it looks awful. The GOG release only supports the DOS Version of the game via DOSbox. That means you'll have to live with scanlines and only 256 colours. Instead the Windows version of the Game supports 16 bit colour scheme and has no scanline problems. Unfortunatly the inofficial patches like the "Squirt the Cat" patch (which allows you to run the game in Windows mode) only work with the CD release of the game. I really like Phantasmagoria 2, but I can't really enjoy the GOG release.

The guys at GOG are probably really busy with all the new releases, but I still wish they did a little work on Phantasmagoria II, they usaully take great pride in releasing the games in their best possible light with all the goodies, but in this case we get the crappiest release possible....

Collector: As HarroSIN said, the interlace lines are not because of the DOS version. They are present in the Windows version, too. There is an updated Windows installer on Squirt the Cat, but while it does eliminate the interlacing through DirectX, it does not eliminate the need of CD swapping. My Phantasmagoria 2 installer concatenates all 5 CDs for full hard drive installation, but still has the interlacing. You can add the patched Windows files from the StC Windows installer to an installation from my DOSBox installer to get the non-interlacing from the StC version with the no DC swapping of mine. Since I didn't get the GOG version, I am not sure how they did theirs. If anyone wishes to experiment , you can go to:

http://www.sierrahelp.com/Patches-Updates/GOGUpdates.html#Phant2

and download the zip with the patched Win files. Unzip it to your Phantasmagoria 2 folder and run SIERRAW.EXE to play the game. Two things to remember, I do not know how well this will work with the GOG version, if at all and if it does, the save games will not be interchangeable.
Link to zip still is 404. Anyone knows where I can find that patch?
DosBox does allow you to use pixelshaders to help improve the quality of the video and reduce/remove scanlines.

That link takes you to the page where I got my custom DosBox from. Other FMV games I play, like Ripper and Spycraft, have benefited greatly from this enhanced verison.
