The latest release of ScummVM contains full support for the Windows versions of Phantasmagoria 1 and 2, meaning enhanced video quality over the DOS version. Even better, the files from the GOG versions work perfectly with ScummVM :-) Hoping GOG update their installers at some point to incorporate ScummVM

I can personally say that Phan2 isn't completely compatible with SCUMMVM.
The game will crash if you try to activate either the "batman" or "Female Coworker log in" easter eggs
Most easter eggs seem to work though. Trevor's log in works.
Didn't bother to finish that playthrough so I'm not sure if the game is actually able to be completed but it mostly seems to work, outside of those easter eggs.

This sounds very interesting.
The time I played it in DOS, it was quite ugly. Especially screenshots were not very good.

I did see your let's play, was this in ScummVM, cannot remember if you said so.

I couldn't access the Venimen document to finish chapter 1 so I had to start the game over in Dosbox. Hopefully the Scummvm team fixes this problem

I have confirmed this on my installation as well. I'll probably be rolling back to a DoxBox version to do the easter eggs.

How did you manage to do that the game wouldn't let me click on that document to finish Day 1 I had to start over using Dosbox to get past day 1

I really just did it and it worked without a problem. I've you've got a savegame from that point you should send it to the ScummVM people. That way they can identify the bug and fix it.
