I get the attached error message even if I try running the game in "Windows XP (SP3)" or "Windows 7" compatibility mode.
I also tried turning on Windowed mode in the .ini file.
I will probably try reinstalling in compatibility mode next and see if it helps.
Any thoughts?

32GB DDR3 ram
Nvidia 960GTX 2GB
Windows 8.1 Pro x64
