Hi,

Those of you who have tried to run Patrizier II (the German version of Patrician III - plus expansion) under Windows 7, may have noticed that for some reason the videos happen to be working in the English version (Patrician III) but not in the German version (Patrizier II - plus expansion). However, that problem apparently can be solved rather easily. I have tried out a retail version of Patrician III and was surprised to see that the video stuff appears to be working out of the box (and as far as I remember the same would apply to the GOG version...) (the only video that does not play in the English version (Patrician III) is the Ascaron video before the actual intro!). If you take a close look at the the main directory of the German and the English versions, you will find that the English version comes with a different version of 'binkplay.exe' (no icon in the German version). So, just copy the version of binkplay in Patrician III to the German version (while of course overwriting the existing version...) and you will find afterwards that suddenly the German version - Patrizier II plus expansion - actually does play the videos when you start the programme (videos here is plural deliberately because the German version also plays the Ascaron intro whereas the English version in Patrician III starts straight with the actual intro - however the Ascaron intro also is to be found in the main directory of Patrician III...). (By the way, this actually appears to be a Windows 7 quirk with Patrizier II - it does not happen with either Windows 8, 8.1, or 10!.)

Cheers
