According to the wiki, to get the best ending for this quest, I have to set the alcohol in the courtyard on fire to activate a sprinkler system. How and where do I do that? Do I need a torch? An alchemist's fire? Or do I have to play as a spellcaster with a fire spell?

After you talked with Daeran he will tell you something about the mansion. That includes information about the sprinkler system. Once you got the information you can interact with the cart nearby which has all the alcohol.
