Started 2 new games (to check) and used stock game settings and still the pet will not level (also it has no progress bar), companions yes, pet no. Bug? I'll just give up on it for a while and play whack a mole with one of the melee classes.

Rebooted the game, ran verify twice, and the issue is fixed. Sorry about the post, ignore please.
