Since (naturally) most of the topics on this forum are of somewhat negative nature, but also since the reception of the game doesnt seem that to be that good, i just wanted to point out:
I absolutely love this game!
I am (was) not familair with pathfinder rules (and the game could do a better job at explaining things), but i absolutely love that they stick so close to the ruleset which makes fighting and evrything involved very sophisticated compared to.. well, pillars of eternity for instance, where the flattened out ruleset (adjusted for pc gaming) got me bored very cuickly.
(I by the way feel like the simplifications on flanking arent needed at all and should be fixed at some point / adjustable in game difficulty)

Well, there's lots of things that still require some polish, and i hope that we will see patches and quite some dlc, becaause this whole world is absoluetly amazing. Well done so far!

if they remove flanking thing it would shaft all rogues even harder. they are already pretty much the biggest trap in the game as tons of enemies are immune to crit/sneak.

as far as reception goes it is a trend with all games in rpg genre. those people will never be happy with anything that is not the game they used to play when they were young. most people are quietly playing and/or waiting for bugs to be fixed. vocal minorities are getting their panties in a bunch cause this game as every other big rpg has major bugs on release. look at literally any rpg forum and you'll see that you just can't win with those people.

This game is undeniably wonderful as long as it works at all. Which is rare sinse 1.0.8. I am not talking about minor glitches, it's full red sreen of death in here. What even is a red screen?! Sad thing is - it was working fine for me earlier than 1.0.8. So, sincerely a great game, not working not withstanding.

I had launch problems with the first update. somehow patch corrupted files of the game. full re-install worked like a charm. likely it would do that for you too. also people reported that new nvidia drivers mess up the game. can try rolling back that too.

I dont want flanking to be removed, dont get me wrong! I just want instances to be counted as flanked when you hit it from two opposite ends (like it is intended by the tabletop rules if i understand correct), and NOT just by being hit by two enemies in whatsoever position. I actually tried setting up this flanked criteria (which i read about online somewhere, since it is not explained in the game otther than on some random loading screen tooltip :D) until i realised (rading that tooltip) that you dont actually need to to it. It is too easy to "flank" someone like this imho, thus giving an option in difficulty to turn on "proper" flanking would be decent.

oh thats exactly what I meant. it would shaft rogues even harder and anything that relies on sneak heavily is already pretty bad at dealing with a lot of problems. if I had to manually flank every mob I would just dump all sneak-attackers from my party. they are not that strong as is, except for vivisectionist. it would make earlygame with all the bandits a bit easier, though.

I think people like the game or they would not be so manic about the problems. I include myself here. If and when mods really get going I think this game is going to be epic, of course depending on how robust you can mod it.

devs already stated that mod tools are not coming anytime soon. it is unity though so maybe. I wouldn't count on extensive mods without mod tools, but something like extra classes etc can be doable.

No mod tools were provided by Infinity Engine developers. ALL were made by user enthusiasts, and there were tons of mods.

Unity Engine mods are feasible. Just look at IE Mod, Eternity Keeper, Unity Console etc. It just takes the right person/people to get interested in developing tools.

well yeah. that's what I mean by no expansive modding. nobody did a now campaign for PoE, for example. whereas nwn1/2 had loads of those.
I do worry that they won't allow decent modding because they want to sell DLC. Seems to me though they would sell more copies the more fun and interesting the game becomes, but no one pays me to think about this stuff.

as they stated they can't provide mod tools cause the game must be developed with modding in mind and they chose at allocate resources elsewhere aka making bigger game. pretty sure they won't mind mods. saying "no mods allowed" would be a death sentence to an indie dev.

I agree. it's a good game. and while it's rough around the edges I have seen far worse.
The dilligent efforts and outreach by the Devs ensure my future Custom
One can see the potential. I am much more sorry I wasted money impatiently buying Pillars of Eternity 2 than this.

I really tried to like POE. I just could not get into it. I would always get so far and then just realize, I do not care what happens to these characters. The combat just seemed mindless and the whole ethos of the game was just grey. Maybe I never went far enough.
