Minor spoilers ahead.
So, I stumbled on the scythe tree at level 6 and after a few tries, managed to take it down. Except the way I found sounded suspiciously like an exploit.
A PnP player, but not expert, my first reaction to a level drain aura was to use undead. I was quite surprised to see they weren't immune to level drain. But as they still tanked the tree and the rest of my party stayed back, protected from poison, I had my wrath thassilonian specialist pelt the thing with fire balls and scorching ray. In the end it broke through my summoned undead, but died before his aura could have time to strip one level from my team.
My question is: this "strategy" demands you to have a special kind of PC and Harrim. Ekun can help but is not critical and nobody else really matters. This doesn't sound like the right way to pass this encounter. So, before getting ward against death to cancel the level drain, what even is the right way?
