Does anyone know what the universal update listed under game downloads is? I just started playing this game a few days ago, and found that painkiller has been updated today with the "universal update". Does anyone know what changes it makes or if saves are compatible with the update? Thanks

Edit: just realized the previous topic answers this question. sorry:) but a list of changes etc would still be nice.

This question / problem has been solved by bevinatorimage
It's apparently a fix for the long load times. The load times are noticeably shorter after the update, but I don't know if they changed anything else. They haven't posted any patch notes. All we have is this post from Thiev.

We did not. This update swaps one .dll file to fix loading issue, nothing more. It should be safe to apply it at any point of the game.

It's about time to introduce a change log for updated games. Same for Alan Wake. Had to look up the forums for the changes.

Please, do it!

I agree, in fact: here's a Wishlist item for it. Vote for it!

Sweet.

Any plans on updating the installer itself, like you guys did for Duke3D way back? I like the idea of installing games pre-patched. :)

Unfortunately, they don't seem to be doing that anymore. I thought that was one of their best ideas. I hope the go back to that.

Yeah I'd like to see that too.
