korell: The original installer was set up for 3DFX mode but didn't enable all the graphical options, so sprites were limited to 4 directions, some textures were displayed at lower resolutions, etc. This version of the installer still uses 3DFX by default but it now enables all the higher resolution textures and gives sprites their full 8 directions so objects in the world (most notably horses and such) get shown at a number of different angles now, so it looks better.

Basically, it gives you the best looking 3DFX version without having to go in and tweak the settings yourself. :)
I see, and all of this is already preconfigured with GOG's installer (= no special action needed) if I understand you well.

I wrote to support, about direct3d bug, and music issue. So we must wait. Maybe GoG resolve that problems. I wish you can play again, this beautiful game. Cheers! F..k my english...

Skwareblox: I updated through galaxy client rather than downloading it over again (slow internet here) and despite last night it working perfectly fine today after the update it doesn't want to launch and keeps giving me this error.

korell: Did you manage to download the new installer to try reinstalling the game with it? Only GOG Galaxy is still in alpha so that itself might be the cause of the issue you've got, and not everyone has the Galaxy client yet.
Sorry I never noticed your post. I'm not sure how exactly but the issue has been fixed I believe as explained in a post earlier than this one. Thank you for the suggestion though, had the issue not seem to have disappeared that course of action was next on my to do list.

Edit: I forgot about the downloader so I removed a bit not being able to download it before losing connection

Which mode is that in? 3DFX, D3D or software? I've found that D3D and Software are too buggy to play, but 3DFX works great with nGlide (which GOG include).

What I know, the 3dfx is not working for him. This mode is in D3D. As you found it's buggy.

Well, there is always dgVoodoo, if you have a DX11 GPU (I don't, though, so can't test it with Outlaws) as an alternative 3DFX wrapper. The only other one I know of is Zeckensack's 3DFX wrapper, but as far as I know that hasn't been updated in years.

I guess GOG have to go with nGlide as not everyone has DX11 GPUs.

I only just now discovered that Outlaws had been updated and the game now seems to be working fine for me. Thanks very much, GOG.

I literally just got an update flag for Outlaws. And this is since the update mentioned in this thread. No idea what has changed.

I have downloaded and re-installed and the music doesn't repeat unless you wait a lot/reload as usual. Backspace doesn't work either. So, this must be one of the (in)famous void flags.

I just got the update flag too, but the version number is the same as the one I downloaded almost 3 weeks ago. Since the manual and strategy guides are small, I re-downloaded them, and they're identical as well.

I am finding I cant pick up oil and some other items and cant save the game after I have run it for some time- frustrating to start over again. Running on windows 7 and graphics seem good. Any patches developed.

Try the Nglide 3dfx wrapper yet ?
