UkkoPekkaMakkara: Ok...
None of the download links in this thread work, and neither do the ones I found with Google.
Could someone please link an updated download link, or re-upload the patch.

Thanks in advance.
Uh, the last links posted still work.

HD-Patch v3: http://www.gog.com/forum/outcast/experimental_outcast_hi_res_patch_up_to_1280x768_cyana_lighthouse_problem_fixed/post253
Deadfix: http://www.gog.com/forum/outcast/experimental_outcast_hi_res_patch_up_to_1280x768_cyana_lighthouse_problem_fixed/post257
Is it possible to remove the black bars at the top and bottom of the screen? I have tinkered with the settings but so far no luck. I'm running the latest version of the high-res patch.

EDIT: Is the deadfix still needed with the latest version of the high-res patch?
EDIT 2: Please disregard my first edit. It looks like the deadfix is still required. The game still crashes when you die.

Não tem legendas em português, a menos que exista algum patch não oficial por aí (sei que há para outras línguas).

No portuguese subtitles, unless there's some unofficial patch.
Eu conheço este patch de tradução baseado na versão brasileira pela Infogrames.
Boa Sorte!

I've got the boxed retail version of Outcast i've not played for a while and want to get it running on my machine. Can anyone point out what patches I might need and any file locations? The HD patch in this threa doesn't appear to work so i assume its only for the gog version.

Thanks,

Dave
So, i tried what you wrote, but nothing good came out of it.

Can you tell me step by step what should I do, cause I am obviously doing something wrong and cant get rid of the enormous black area.

Thanks.

I have a 2-CD version of Outcast, and I remember finding some patches online. I also remember there being more versions of it (I have the English version), not all worked. And one that got the resolution up to 640x480.

A quick google came up with this: http://www.planet-adelpha.net/Downloads/patches.html

That should probably be a good starting point?

I also have the GOG version, and you are right in that Zenger's mod is just for the GOG version. Btw, it's much better imho, also much easier install (no messing around with finding the correct version etc. Unless, I suppose, if you do not have the English version...).

I currently I use it at 1280x1024, basically working great so far. I did had a couple of freezes/ unexpected game quits though. But then again maybe I'd have those anyway, no way of telling. I have only installed Zenger's HD-V3 mod, and nothing else.

I don't know if you got a DVD or 2-CD version of the game. In case you have a DVD (non-GOG) version, there are instructions at that link also to make Zenger's mod work for that as well (plus another mod for some music fix). I don't have that version so I don't know anything more than that.

There is also this page with the same information

And what exactly have you tried? What version do you have? (And who are you asking? :P)

In (almost) any case, one of these links should help?

The pages you posted links to are interesting, but the links from there to the actual HD patches are dead (they lead to pages that say "404 Not Found" and "No Se Ha Encontrado").

Odd, I recently downloaded some of them a 2 or 3 weeks ago, from those links. Maybe it's just a server downtime or something?

In any case I uploaded what I got. Link to my Mediafire Outcast folder

I see I also have the old 2-CD version of the 640x480 resolution patch there from some years ago too. The rest is for the gog version.

Including the cinemascope "deadfix" (I haven't tried that one) that someone talks about in this very thread posts 257-258, just in case anyone is interested.

Also included the "music fix" by Zenger, but I haven't tried that one either.

FYI, it is not neccessary to install any prior patches to V3, V3 is stand-alone. (Though might be a bit unstable at times, I've played some hours now, sometimes hours at a time, and sometimes a bit shorter, before it unexpectedly quits. But all in all, no biggie. Just save more often).
I think it was not so difficult to see who had uploaded the patches on this occasion, 'Outcast Spain' and go to the web, to see that everything was redirected to the appropriate link. However put here.

08/05/2014. Updated links: 'HD patches' and 'program (change language)' edition GOG.com.
This is not official but it works well. Thank Spanish fan 'Zenger'. Were in "joanmorci.com", after: "old.joanmorci.com" and now "outcastspain.com". Fallen was the link in the various forums, but never on the website of 'Outcast Spain'. I seriously take this job because I am dedicated to this (web design & others). Sorry for inconvenience.

ANALYSIS GOG Edition (2010):
http://www.outcastspain.com/old/outcast_analisisgog.html

Greetings from 'OUTCAST-Spain' !
Pd.: Now everything is fixed in the forum 'outcastii.free' but still pending correction forum 'openoutcast.org' where I forget my login and I have advised the appropriate person.
Yo. I've been using the V3 patch from the above post. I'm getting a lot of random crashes in Okasankaar, and I can only assume it's related to the Cyana lighthouse 'fix' as I rarely get a crash in other regions. Has anyone else experienced this, and does anyone know of a way to undo just that bit?
A little update. First, before I fixed the lamp I noticed there were certain perspectives, like from the ground below the Shamaz, from which the lighthouse would actually be emitting light.

Second, once I fixed the lighthouse lamp I no longer experienced any crashes, thankfully.

I don't know if anyone is even maintaining this patch anymore, but there's a little info in case someone decides to take it up.
