hi, this is my first real problem of a game not working at all, so this is my first 'encounter' of serious problem preventing to even play the game .

i have win7 64 bits and the requirements are more then enough to run the game.

Reinstalling wont fix anything so that option is out
Changing settings using the winsetup wont change a thing , so thats also not an option

First i get an error of a missing dll

then after click ok i get the other message
I dont want to mess up my windows (like downloading dll or installing certain other fixes) cause all other games work fine , i dont use the mickeysoft error reporting cause i switched that off cause mickeysoft only wants to force win 10 to every user so any windowsupdates, or win7 checks are also not an option.

i hope this is just a bug and that a patch will become available

I already googled for the dll on : win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll download
and all they gave was getting the dll somewhere and i rather not cause god knows what will be inside that dll, so any sugesstions are helpful.

Try installing Visual Studio 2015:

seems every dev uses a different build
but now my game is messed up, ...and wont run

i will try to get that single .dll file the error talked about, tomorow and if that doesnt work
then i have run out of options, vista is the oldest supported os so i cant test it on my XP... it wont run...

gamesfreak64: snip
Did you try restarting your PC after the installation? Sometimes, it's necessary to do so after installing Visual C++.

yes i did.

i googled and many users have the same problem for other tools /programs, but i havent found any user that has the problem with the OOTT game...

maybe i am the only one who has problems with this game, or maybe noone lese bought the game here on GoG yet who uses win7 64 bits.

I will try to find an answer in the forums of OOTT and if nothinbg comes out then i guess i be asking for a refund in store credit so that i can use that to buy a game that works.
Like i said this is my very first game i bought that refuses to run no matter what i do, sofar all the games i have on GOG work a charm its just this OOTT game that wont work, also in the Google search on the .dll problem many users were mentioning win 10 who seems to have the .dll by default ?
, anyway i just hope the OOTT devs did not created the game for latest windows and were just automatically assuming that older systems would handle it as well

I saw a mention of galaxy in the OOTT folder so i installed the galaxy client, nothing works even with that client, i thought the OOTT might need the galaxy to be installed and running but nope, game still wont work.
So i guess the galaxy tool can be removed again since the game wont work...

Galaxy uninstalled.

i dont think this OOTT game will work for me, too much hassle getting it to work...

thanks again, it worked

so the problem in my case is solved
I had this same problem with a wrinkle. My firewall asked for permission to connect to the internet. Once granted the game started up I could then disconnect from the net and the game continued to run. However it will not start without an internet connection. Nowhere does it say I have to be connected to the net. What gives with this? It appears there is only one save slot or am I misreading the save function?

hi, i dont know if we need to be online all the time, but usually i am online 100%( unless ziggo messes up :D (seems millions of people are using that ISP)

and there is only 1 slot , i thought i saw it wrong, but maybe there's a reason for it .

update :D
found the missing dll and downloaded it...

after wasting almost 1 hour searching and about to give up i found a clean and safe (i checked the dll with my AV and my malwarebytes tool, plus i checked the sha, adn even uploaded the file to an online malwarescanner)
so it was ready to be regged with regsvr.

but, that gave one error, apparently the file only needs to be in the folder where the exe is that requires it.
So i move the file to the OOTT folder and the first message telling the blablabla dll was missing was no more.

But... the galaxy error stayed... : check attached image

it is a 'call' from the ags game :

i dont see any more users replying they have same error so i guess i am the only one.

the reason i mentioned this cause there was a changelog for the game, with fixes,
its last weeks patch, so i assume my working version does not have the changes because i got them in january

Patch 1.0.2 (08 February 2016)

The Mac & Linux versions will be udpated ASAP.
fixed error with wilted flower hotspot
fixed error with "stump" label on Juniper Screen
changed pixie interactions post songbook
fixed Drops of Juniper Achievement; will drop now if you play song first
renamed berries in inventory to "Firienne"
Fixed "Fisherman's Love Song" reaction when Ted is in Shop with Glenda
fixed several audio line problems
Fixed Spider Closeup/Lute GUI lock problem
Fixed Achievements GUI error on title screen
Fixed "Song of the Turtle" on Swamp Entrance when Raptor isn't there.

update:

installed galaxy client beta 1.15, and ran the game... but no luck
see attachment

so things just wont work... with the gog version
so no need to use the client cause it wont fix anything , looks like the game wants to connect with something that does not work

the other version i got from the dev, works a charm, but i wont be able to get game updates
so how am i gonna get my updates? does anyone have any suggestions ?

update: seems the steam demo and steam game do run without these problems, i tried the demo and it ran so i got the steam version (4.99 now because it was a sale)
AGSteam.dll is used for the achievements cause when i move that into a another folder it errors.

so it looks like the galaxy ags is not 100% bugfree.

Anyway i now have OOTT working but at 4.99 extra cost (steam version)
another game related problem solved so this topic can be closed:

solution:

I got thegame via the dev , like he mentioned a few posts earlier in this topic , which ia very nice of him,, thank you evry much, but games needs patches and as soon as i updated the game the problems returned, like i replied above i fixed that problem by buying the steam version and the game works :D so its dll or something like that related to galaxy client i guess.

Anyway problem solved since i play the steam version.
