HertogJan: Glad to hear GOG is aware of it.
Not sure, but the 4 DLC version might be a GOG exclusive as it's not on Steam. Still it doesn't explain the bug as it´s apparently not in the Steam 1,07 version.

Kalypso's view on tech support and the patching proces for GOG:

I noticed those threads the other day when looking for a solution to this bug. Sounds to me like they got some poor management and practices in there. Deploying changes for different platforms is more work for sure, but shouldn't be that difficult if it's done correctly.
I have the JL and i can confirm the game work correctly, however if i remember the details, the patch that we got here on GOG IS for for the game + JI

So without the DLC the patch is even more broken then before

Maybe it's because i got to face opponents that are using a katana quite regularly, and the katana is not even in the game without the DLC

Good chance a trigger is pointing the wrong line
I found solution of this problem. Somebody might say that is illegal but I don't care.
1. Download Omerta without a bug
2. Do 1 st mission
3. Uninstall
4. Play on Omerta from gog
5. Be happy :)

To me it sounds like their loader is the problem. The Steam version probably uses their loader, so it's not a problem for that version.
I do wonder what he means by testing ...

Someone reported issues with a savegame from the 1.06 version, so this might not work.

Ya, it's not just the first mission, it's any mission.
I saw the installer had been updated and hoped the game-breaking bug people were reporting had been fixed. Little did I know with each update the game would actually be getting worse, not better! Like others have reported, I can't get past the 1st mission. It plays a clip where the boss says 'I'm a gangster' and then rolls to credits.

At least I think it's a bug. If not it'll be the shortest Mafia story ever made.
Same issue here ...
I thought the game was finished when i see the credits.
Oh wow, i was afraid i was the only one facing this game breaking bug. At least there are others who cannot play as well. Anyone have luck fixing this? is it at all fixable?

As stated earlier in this thread, the Japanese Incentive DLC fixes that bug.
Downside is that the game breaking bug of Georgia Avenue hasn't been fixed in the GOG version.
Does this mean the GOG version is just a dud then? like a little demo that doesn`t really work?
The Japanese Incentive campaign works.
Same here but i think it is the fault of developers, not gog. Because i have bought tons of games via summer sales and only this game gives me an error :)
Just to clarify, this bug is also present in the Steam version of the game. It is a bug that was introduced in 1.07 for all PC platforms.

Sadly, Kalypso has stated they don't plan on releasing any more patches for the game. Their exact statement is:

"Tropico 5 was released just a little over a month ago, Omerta is now one and a half year old. Unfortunately we can't provide patch support on all games years after release, the team is simply not big enough to accomodate for this. Active development on the Omerta project has stopped and moved to Tropico 5." -Timo, Kalypso Media

So basically they released a patch that complete broke the game, and don't care or plan to fix it. GoG knows this and is still selling the game. Both GoG and Kalypso are at this point knowingly ripping people off selling something that doesn't work.
It's sad because I was kinda enjoying the game until I could no longer progress. I'm not buying the DLC either just to fix a bug. Why support a publisher with this kind of attitude towards their products.

They really need every single Haemimont dev working to pump out DLC for Tropico 5? Ha.
years after release? 18 months is enough to get away with this? This is horrible, there are games that are 10 years old and still get patched every so often...
