My first game played of the Oddworld franchise was Stranger´s Wrath, so i never enjoyed the previous three games. I started to play the game today, i love the graphics, and the concept... but i find some things fustrating.

It´s SO difficult all the time? i can´t remember how many times i died until get the exactly pace, timing, and moment to do things... im not a fan of "try, mistake, try again..." :/ also i find the tutorial of the game is really pretty bad... no one tell me in the tutorial i can control bad guys chanting... then i found it on youtube searching for a guide...

I also found that chanting i can open some portals to other places (no just save other modokons but for travel to other places) this portals open sometimes, others not... why? and it´s necessary to take this way? You can win the game without saving every modokon? Some seem placed there just to die... :/

Any tips? I´m enjoying the game, but it´s kinda frustrating...

Oddysee is very difficult at times, yeah. Exoddus and Munch's Oddysee are a bit easier as they have save features.

The game does actually tell you you can possess bad guys but not until a few levels in. It's perfectly possible to get this far without it, but you'll miss saving quite a few mudokons. Parlty it's to give you a reason to replay the game and do better and partly because it was made in 1997 for the Playstation... things were very different back then. ;)

Some portals are for saving mudokons, some for transporting you. I'm not really sure what you're asking here... later in the game you'll find portals where you need to save a certian amount of your friends at once for a special kick-ass ability. I won't give it away. ;)

As for saving Mudokons, you have to save at least 50 for the good, canonical ending, rather than the unpleasant bad one! Every one can be saved if you try. Save all 99 and you can watch the FMVs in the main menu. If you're struggling and are a very sick puppy, KILL over 76 of them for infinite grenades... you cheat :P

All I can really give you in advice is to practice your running jumps, which not only gets you over gaps but also up to ledges, which becomes crucial later. Also, stick with it! The game really takes off when you get to the temples.
