In the Windows Settings for both NOX.EXE and Game.exe:
- Compatiability Mode: Windows98/Windows Me
- Settings: Reduced Color Mode > 16 bit

In-Game Options:
- Set it to 1024x768 and it will apply when you start playing the game itself (not the meuns).
- 16 bit color
- Uncheck "Unlocked DX Surfaces"

Results:
Slight flicker of mouse cursor on the main menus, but not while playing.
Main menus are always 640x480.
Game runs fine.
John, can you confirm what Torel says?

As Torel said, it's playable after change compatibility mode to win98/me.
Just a little annoying that the game may auto switched out to desktop (happened twice last night ), and when I switched it in, the screen is F**ked and I have to close it using Alt+F4. You may need save your game once a while for this.
My game didn't yet auto-switch to desktop, but Alt-TAB is forbidden for me, too, for the reason given by @crazii.

On my 4GHz box, the game is running a little bit faster than intended (~ 1.5 times faster probably?), which makes it sometimes hard for me to point at a target for a ranged attack before it's standing on my feet. I don't know how this will play out later in the game, in harder battles.
Just posting a Thank You to Toreltwiddler. I too had the frustrating beginning when trying to load this game on Windows 10. Thank you for dispelling my irritation.
I was having major problems with running the Gog version of Nox in Windows 10.

I kept getting the dreaded flickering screen and disabled mouse cursor every time it launched.

This was even after changing the compability settings to Wndows 98 me and the colour mode to 16 bit (right click on Nox.exe and Game.exe and click on the properties tab) and changing the mode to administrator.

Some folk have also suggested changing the tagert to windows mode by adding ''-swindows' in the target box. I found Windows 10 would not recognise this as a valid target.

What sorted it out (and credit to another thread for suggesting this) was to download the MS Windows ADK pack for windows 10 - just make sure you have the right version (which you can find out by going to the start menu and typing 'winver' in the box- then run as a command line).

Note I am still running the Nox.exe with the compatibility settings- I have not experimented on how many compatibility issues the ADK pack fixes.
