I once found a staff with lots of black holes in it and used it to dig my way through the levels the fastest way I could. On one point I found a boss monster, but with my poor equipment I wasn't able to beat it. Did anyone get past this?
Right now my current run is the furthest I've made it. Kinda funny though as it was meant to be a throwaway run to kill a bit of time with and goof around a bit. Once I found a teleporter wand I went around the whole surface to get the easy to get orbs and tablets. Used them to stock up on health and gold.

So far made it all the way to the last level before the boss (I've spoiled myself a bit so I know what to expect). I'd have to say the biggest factor in helping me stay alive so long is the frozen feild perk. Yeah it's hard to get blood stained for the crits, and gotten me in tricky siturations involving getting trapped by pixels of frozen blood (I thought I was stuck and my run would end right there), but I don't have to worry about fire and lava at all and it mitgates the danger of toxic waste (frozen toxic waste will danger you if you touch it, but it's much better then getting stained in it).

Though the last level I was in I grabbed they eletricty perk (the one that electrifies stuff around you and blocks electric damage) and it was a god send. Killed so many enemies for me and it even counts as a trick kill so I was getting twice the amount of gold from enemies. Ended up pretty well off and have roughly 3x the amount of gold as the most expensive wand at the shop.

I saved and quit for now, since I needed a break. I've been going through the new levels for me at a snail's pace being extra cautious. So... this might just end up being the run that wins for me.
Nice to hear and thx for the frozen field hint. I never picked this up as I always had perks offered which I thought might be more useful (mostly invulnerabilities for fire, toxic, whatever). I'll definitely try this out next time.

The game seems to have a built in mechanism to get the player free if he's stuck. I once landed into a wall and after a few seconds some pixels, that stuck in me vanished.

Good luck for the boss, tell me if were able to beat him :)
Woo boy I did it! I beat the boss and even killed a Skeliton God (those assholes that appear when you "Anger the gods"). It was... surprisingly easy, likely thanks to the wands I picked up between the final two levels. I was practically at max health by the time I reached the bottom and decided to go exploring for more gold (I had my wand slots full of good spells, couldn't afford to pick up a new wand unless it was absolutely amazing). I did learn that having a liquid trail while having the frozen field perk is annoying at best (pixels of ice always getting in your way) and dangerious at worse (getting trapped on the ceiling by said pixels of ice while enemies are barreling towards you).

Oh and during the last level and boss I nearly killed myself twice, and once more after. I created a wand that could at any shot (because shuffle) created a massive amount of gunpowder and acid... practically making an entire pillar or three of the stuff... and trapping me in a bubble of frozen acid (which does damage you). Though... if I didn't have frozen feild I bet you I'd be dead because of that.

After killing the boss I decided to go exploring a bit... trying to mine my way down the lava at the bottom. I gave up after half an hour or so since I didn't realy have the right spells to make much headway (man I wished for a drill or chainsaw so badly). That is when I nearly killed myself for the third time... getting trapped under the lava while infinate acid and gunpowder was spawning. Yeah I somehow glitched the game and on occasion gunpowder and acid would just spawn in mid air where I used my dangerious wand to try and get rid of the lava quickly.

So after that I said screw it and head in to the portal that spawns after you kill the boss. And then... I beat the game.

That run took me 7 hours according to the run stats you get when you die or beat the game o.o

Congratulations :) So I'll have to try harder.
Just beat it again. This time by completely rushing it to through the portals and without "Killing" anything. If you don't kill anything with your wand or by kicking before reaching the next portal you'll be rewarded with a free treasure chest in the perk room.

Thing is, trick kills (IE killed by the eviroment, other enemies, objects you kick into enemies) don't count as killing and you can use a tablet to kill enemies by throwing it at it which will count as a trick kill. Still I mostly rushed through and only killed when I needed to.

Black hole was the real MVP of the run, and few nice perks (I got freezing feild again lol). To kill the boss, I crafted a wand from the stuff I found and then cheesed the boss using... a certain methed only easily possible with freeaing feild. If one thing I would've done better is thought about the boss from the start and grab what I could to make a boss killing wand... which the wand I made was woefully inadequate and I think I did more damage to myself than what the boss did to me lol.

Also went from a 7 hour run to beating the game in 27 minutes lol. Though took me about... 10 attempts? It was mostly as a test to see if I did indeed get free gold for going through a level without killing and... turned out to be a treasure chest. So decided to see how far I could go. Also I think I might have some how accidently killed something in the final level because I didn't get a chest then... but I have no idea what that could've possibly been.

Thats very interesting. How good were the extra chests? I might have to try this out!

Edit: Extra chests seem to be the same as regular chests. I've gotten hearts and spells so far. Killing with trail effects seems to count as well. Update: The clear condition seems a little bugged, even when I killed nothing and ran straight down it only works half the time. The enemies will kill eachother and one of their kill conditions might break it. It might be pheromoned enemies counting as your kills.

I think I finished. I got a "Congratulations, Victory!" message and promptly died. Are you supposed to jump at the end or something to avoid turning to gold?

Anyway, my secret weapon was absolutely devastating. I had a bubble wand with one of those four-way shots, which in itself isn't that great. But I had added one of those >> accelerators to it along with one of the erratic shot spells, which sped them up even more. All of those were combined with Heavy Shot. I had Homing and Crits too, so I could pour out fifty shots at a time in all directions and they would hit the enemies like killer bees, each one for like 44+ damage (with lots of crits). They would turn corners, burrow through the walls to get enemies hiding there, just awful damage. Thousands of points of self-aiming damage. They never quit coming.

No idea how to not die. 1 of the early tablets hints that theres a way not to. At the very least, it mentions turning everything to gold and also having a long, healthy life to enjoy it. The ending seems to cast a massive 'touch of gold' spell. It might be possible to out run the spell's cast range with the right spells but thats just a guess as it could also just be a hardcoded death.

I just can't beat the game. Whenever I have good wands and perks, I run into trouble. Be it an angry god out of nowhere, too many enemies in one spot or just a crash of the game :(

Maybe you're not adapting enough. I had trouble getting to level 5 until I started using everything I had available. If you can get to level 5, you are probably strong enough to kill the endboss so just focus on going down at that point.

What do you mean by adapting? Sorry, I'm not a native english speaker :)

Today I made it past the jungle area.. And the game was frozen. Not for the first time, it was really frustrating.
Finally, I did it. I tried to run away from the spell that turns you to gold and managed to escape the white circle, but with no effort. It looks like everything except the background gets turned to gold.

The patch notes say something about a secret ending, so there might be a way to avoid this...
