I've been using this game practically since the begining. Been my favorites version the old ones where you could dismantled ships etc. But I have upgraded and the game has been playing perfectly up until last night. I finished, close it and now this moning the games does not starts.\

I haven't change anything, same windows 7 ultimatte 64
same video card geforce 660, 16 gig mem...etc there has been no changes in the system.
What I have done, verify and repair...nothing. Download the whole game and reinstall.
remove all mods
nothing works the games just doesn't start
deleted the shaders cache

change video drivers (they were working fine last nite.

Don't know what else to do...

You should see: Start the game (i.el., click Play) --> black screen (probably with the famous blue donut) --> Hello Games logo displayed --> partner logos displayed --> select game screen displayed.

You're falling back to Windows Desktop when it should transition from the initial black screen to Hello Games?

Check you anti-virus / anti-malware logs? False positives pop up all the time. It may be that whatever process that the initial screen is trying to launch is being blocked by your AV/AM.

Permissions settings? I've had weird issues with some apps after a disk restore.

Is the NVidia overlay active?
It was the first black screen and back to desktop. I solved the problem by updating OpenGL from 4.5 to 4.6 with the latest Nvidia drivers. which is weird since it was working perfectly the night before. I tried several drivers, going back to previous versions. then I just read about the Open GL and updated it.

Back in the game!, thanks for your reply.
