I think my main gripe in survival is that you use an entire charge of plutonium to launch the ship whereas in the other mode it's 25%.

Not a change that makes much sense to me other than a contrived way to highlight the survival that fails to do so as you spend more of your time floating about looking for visible plutonium before landing.

ThorChild: Try a different game?
Your deep thinking and creative insight to various problems is a blessing to these forums.
Considering the game often starts you on planets that don't have the required minerals to either recharge life support or repair your ship, I would suggest that the people saying it's fine as it is are either trolling or got lucky.

Survival is meant to be a test of skill, not luck.

elghinnfaer: As far as mining Thamium in space I use the photon blasters that do not use or consume resources, those green beams of the lasers look nice but I prefer a weapon with a faster fire rate that does not need to be fueled so often but to each their own.
Gosh, forgot that the blasters are not consuming power... you saved my life! :D

The resources for recharging life support and repairing your ship are available on every planet. You just have to search better in survival mode, since resources are not that frequent anymore.

I've always found the materials. They're just super rare. They're usually about 3-5 "minutes" worth of walking apart. The challenge is that most planets don't give you enough breathing room to travel that distance before dying.

The hot planets seem to be the best choice to start in as night-time temperatures (in my case anyway) drop to survivable ones so my suit doesn't drain at all except when climbing hills, sprinting, or jet packing

Then of course I squirrel away every bit of power by using melee to mine instead of my laser.

Caves have been the same as well. They're about the 4-5 minutes worth of walking between each one which in the case of my night-time excursions has been just barely enough to hide before sunrise.
Ya. What cracks me up. HG did not even survive the release of their own game, it set refunded sales records on Steam. For crying out loud. Now they wanna test me, and you, in a Survival mode? HA. Sean is a liar.

There is SynthGek, in deep cover for the Korvax, able to survive. But, the Devs programmed the wrong love/hate reputation table, on them. These idiots, should not be making survival features, for the PC, when their own NPC, are surviving above the law/game mechanics.

Ya. Stupid, is putting it politely.
At this point they should just relabel their game modes to stages. Personally I'm waiting on a "Dark No Man's Sky" release, maybe they will do away with the cuddling gerbil crap and resource mulling and just throw us an all exclusive space bone. Where you customize your ship interiors and decorate your potted plants, hell even give Steve a hat and opening a hot dog stand all on that comfy ship of yours that looks like a child's doodle.

There's a weenie joke in there some place!
