robcann: It seems like my initial post regarding being relentlessly chased by sentinels is over (I hope). This must be due to the latest 1.55 update.
Are you sure? Because the latest patch on GoG is 1.54

Mine's just updated to 1.55 about an hour ago.
I've noticed, that while GOG Galaxy currently offers the update to 1.55, the download servers used for manual downloading do not seem to, yet.

No they don`t. I`ll wait.

That usually takes GOG a day or two longer. May be after the weekend as well.
And I am into this one now. Whenever I re-enter and then leave my ship. I earn two 'wanted-points'.

Since erradicatng Authority no longer works (I've tried, including space, multiple times), I consier this to be a game-breaker, unless the game tells me, how to rid mysel of this.

Galaxy uses developer-specific upgrade channels, like Steamworks--I get the patches the day HG releases them, accordingly, as HG can apply the updates itself without direct GOG intervention. The manual patches for the backup game executables take longer because GOG is in the loop, getting the patch from the dev and then reconfiguring it to GOG's own special manual installer formats.

I update all of my games through Galaxy, and then download the manual files for my backups as GoG releases them. Works well--incidentally, all Galaxy installed games can be run directly from the game's executable--just as they run with a manual install. You have to create the shortcut to the game executable yourself, is the only difference--but I mean that task takes all of a couple of mouse clicks and about two seconds...;) It's a good system, imo.

Hmmm.... Didn`t know it worked like that. I`m so wary of anything that even smells like Steam or Origin I stay well away. Being able to download the backups just in case is a good idea too. I`m still worried that it`s stealth Steam by the backdoor. I might give Galaxy a trial... might.

Anyway, the Sentinels appear slightly later now, about 10-20 seconds later than normal. I`d like a bit more time to wander, Sentinels still seem too many for planets in an entire universe (are there any planets with NO Sentinels?) but it`s better than it was. It`s good enough that I`ve decided to restart on Survival.

It's actually quite unintrusive. I've had it installed for about a year, and haven't had any issues with it. I tend to DL all my games via the old DLer as soon as I buy them and install from the executable, and not use Galaxy at all for most DLs (I've used it sometimes though). If you install via the executable and not through the client, Galaxy doesn't create a 'launch Galaxy when you launch the game' shortcut.

Galaxy will pick up the game if you scan for it and add it to the list and you can choose to either launch via Galaxy or launch via the desktop shortcut (or start menu). But it's the immediate updates that are the nice feature here - and you get to choose whether you want to update automatically or not, if you set the option in the client. There's a roll back feature as well.
