If you are having performance problems reinstall the game.

It worked for me anyway.

The game was running really poorly for me - constant stutters and pauses, etc. Changing the graphics settings didn't have any noticeable effect, but now after a reinstall it's running as smooth as silk, it's even better than the previous patch version.

My PC is a virtual antique aswell , the only newish component is the GPU : AMD Phenom II 1100t, 8GB DDR3 (2 x 4GB @1333 mhz), Win7, GTX1060 3GB

ok after the reinstall of the game and before deleting all traces of the old installation like shadercache and stuff, the game performs better.but i can't hit 60 fps at all. only on dead planets, space and on spacestations. i have to look further into the settings and play around a bit.

You`ve gotten yourself a little into the 60 fps trap. You don`t need 60 fps despite what they say, as long as you`re getting 50+ you`re alright.

I`m probably wasting my time though cos I know how people get addicted to the numbers in this kind of thing.
no, 60+fps is a must! not only because fluid visuals but also because of the lower input lag.
for example u can't play csgo below 60 fps efficent. u will need atleast 150 fps for the most fuild gameplay, despite of your monitors refreshrate. high fps rate isn't about preference, choise or "only the numbers". it is the objectively better gaming experience. so "GIVE ME ALL THE FPS I CAN GET!!!1 THX":'DDDDD

Yea, whatever. Good luck, you`ll need it.

I agree...;) People get fixated on these numbers when all they need is fluid game play. I'm amazed the game plays as smoothly as it does for me @ 3840x2160, all eye-candy maxxed...;) I'm surely not getting 60 fps, but what I am getting is fluid and very playable! (See post above for config.)
Fuck, I ain't that picky, I'll settle for 30 long as it's solid.

Anyway, got my RX 560, deleted SHADERCACHE and am now installing the 5.1 update. Almost a 5GB update, must have been a LOT of shit to fix.

A lot of games I played fine at 30 fps. 40-50 is best as it`ll cope with any heavy scenes that may come up. I avoid looking at fps numbers unless it`s a slideshow. I even have a very good system, still won`t do it.
