Anyone tried it yet?
I was surprised, when I plugged in my logitech xbox controller and I was able to look around in the cockpit.
It's not possible with the mouse+keyboard though. Why not? Don't we have enough keys or key combos?

Thanks for telling us about this. I've never had a controller and was immediately nonplussed when I realised I couldn't even see all the readouts on my screen, nor move my POV to see them!

What I've found, that while flying around on planets, with the controller, I get a much better view by looking all around and scanning the surface for bases and minerals, while with the mouse+keybrd combo, I can only see front of me.
Landing is easier with a "mouse look" as well. Also, I was able to track the pirate ships, without turning the ship, which is usually a must for flight sims (padlock view).

Here comes something funny. I was searching for possible key combos with the keyboard +mouse, hoping there maybe is a mouselook, just isn't listed (nothing surprises me with this game anymore), I managed to get a zoomed view within the cockpit. It was quite awesome, because it was so much easier to scan the ground. I tried doing it again , but never worked again. It was a random key push and one of the mouse buttons. I can't replicate it, but it would make the game a whole lot better, along with having a mouse look.

I was also extremely surprised myself when some guy mentioned this. I am a keyboard and mouse player and love playing this way. Then when I tried the Xbox controller, voila! I could now look sideways- makes a big difference. Now I have to use the gamepad whenever I fly just to have a better SA while learning the controls all over again (I had it perfect with the mouse).

But why didn`t they give us a mouse look which is actually better?

I blame good ol` consolitus. Hopefully they`'ll fix this for mouse users in a patch.

p.s One other issue if you`re on the ground in ship you can`t look sideways- even with the controller. Why? Or am I missing something?

What? There is mouse look in the cockpit? That's awesome!!!
My suggestion, let us use the right mouse button to switch from mouse control to mouse look!

No, no there isn`t. But if you have an Xbox controller you can use the buttons to look lefty/right with that.

Oh, yes, I know, that's what I meant, there is mouse look implemented in the game but no way to access it for us PC players without gamepads at the moment. Well, this will be patched 100% (cause it should be really easy to do).
