Anyone else getting this? I assume they are having server problems. Game seems to be in offline mode (yes, it has one :P)

Yep, keep losing connection to online services, Restarting the game takes ages flying through stars, renaming and uploading info keeps getting lost.
Yep, watching over my wife's shoulder, she's lost connection and pressing X does nothing...?!?
How do we disable online services?
Can't connect too, and can't reconnect.
"You lost connection to online services, press X to reconnect"

I continuously have this message. Pressing X does not do anything. I cannot upload discoveries.

Help!

ZERO problems...
NONE

seriously....

It is your end... if their servers were going down I would be having same problems.
Make sure you're running Galaxy, I do not think you can connect without it. After you connect for the first time, your name will change from Explorer to your GOG username, and the "Press X" prompt will no longer show up. Instead when you're disconnected from Online Services, it will say just that, and will try to reconnect in the background.

You need galaxy to go online?

Yup you do. Galaxy is more and more becoming DRM
Are you certain online does not work on the non-galaxy version of the game? I know I have not been able to get it to work. Anyone else get online to work with the non-galaxy version?
Let me get this straight essentially what people are complaining about is a multiplayer feature that collects your data like a giant score board for others to see. So they can all look at the same mirror see each others figure and tweet about it.

I guess that makes us casuals traitors, sell outs and heaven scum by comparison.

Good galactic conquest is one star closer!

Actually, you don't. First game I played I went online using the steam overlay launching the game. Norton prompted to allow AV to block the game (I set to allow always). Recognized my username online. Right now I am connected to online services while not playing through galaxy

Strange, I play in offline mode (network card disabled) and I can "upload" the discoveries and get the units for them

I did not install this game with Galaxy and yet I am playing the game. I brought up Galaxy and it says the game is not installed (though it is outside of Galaxy). I am also still online and connected in the game itself when I have Galaxy and the game running (Galaxy MUST run in the background).

So - how to have another game and user on the same account? Install again without Galaxy to a different directory (if on the same computer). Create a GOG account separately (if you haven't already). Run game and it'll start fresh, then run Galaxy as that user (you may have to log out and log in as the other user if on the same computer) and it'll run as that user. Problem solved. No DRM upset and you and your significant other can play to your hearts content. :)
