Isn't there also an option to disable damage from other players? So you can still let anyone join, but they can't harm you.

I believe so, yes. Not sure how granular (I'm a Gogie not a Steamer) but I think you can set permissions for base and player, as well as separately for designated friends versus unknown players.

There was, as expected, a big rush to try multiplayer when it went live on Steam but that's really dried up lately, as a recent thread there notes (other examples if you dig for them).

Hello Games has been silent on this... they said multiplayer will be coming to GOG this year after they surprise-screwed us with the update... My dad and brother can play together nicely since they both bought the steam version, I've been waiting for any kind of news from HG...

Right now I'd bet 5 figures that it doesnt come out this year and that full parity multiplayer doesnt ever come out. I was a huge HG defender at release, but they've shown their true colors with this multiplayer stuff on GoG, my guess is its gonna rot in some backlog with a "blocked" tag on it with a lame excuse of waiting for galaxy tools to fix it for them.

Despite HG's whining about how hard it is to develop on two platforms they have zero compunction about collecting money on any platform they can regardless of their ability to fully support it.

I understand that GoG cant really do anything about it, but their inability to offer a refund (they did for a limited time window but once it became apparent multiplayer was not coming the refund window had expired) has me actually using steam... and I HATE steam, but I do love computer games...

I'd love to buy the full witcher collection on GoG right now (the add got me to come back to the site but I got sucked into this again) but I'm gonna check to see if steam has it on sale as well, its safer to buy it there, despite my past troubles with steam and how much I dislike it.

So no, GoG doesnt have NMS multiplayer, and I wouldnt buy it here if it did, youre just asking to get screwed out of future features if you do, the fault is on immoral developers not GoG, but its your money, and I dunno about you but I dont have enough of it to waste it on moral stands for video games... :(

I think you can buy the witcher games on gog and won't get scammed, because CDProject Red owns GOG. I don't believe they would abandon their game on their own platform. ;)

Yeah, you'd be safe buying Witcher 3 here, since GOG and CDPR are sister companies. There's no way in hell CDPR would screw the GOG version over.

I also do not care about multiplayer, but placed a request to support those who do. Hopefully HG will honor their promise to include the feature. I encourage others to post polite requests, too, regardless of your personal interest.

I purchased the steam version as it's on sale, kinda annoying waste of money having two copies of the same game and not being able to play it as intended.

Small coop groups of friends seem to be accepted -- like helping to find that last dratted creature when you're 12 of 13 and it's nowhere to be found -- but it sounds like most people have turned off letting strangers join.
