Same here ""Waiting for the macOS version of No Man's Sky""
I used to play No Man Sky on my PC, but then I got a Mac and stopped, now I was hoping to jump back again, too.

I used to play single player so it's not that big of a deal for me, but it must suck for people here who want to play with their friends on a new patch - Gog should at least provide the patch for the Windows users for them.

It wouldn't suprize me if the GOG version never got Mac support. I have a feeling that the Mac edtion is steam only, not that i agree with this. I also hope i'm wrong on this.
Also waiting for the MacOS ARM Version.
And I am very annoyed. This makes me think I should have bought this game on steam. @GOG: If you want me to leave any more money in your shop, then support the bought games properly. I will not buy any other game on GOG before this one gets the official Mac support...
it's been couple updates on a Steam by now with Mac OS version
ADD IT TO GOG TOO!!!

Too bad we can't transfer games from GOG to Steam >_<
I'm starting to suspect that they are waiting for the current sale price to go back to the original full price before adding support for the macOS version.
Is the MAC a good gaming platform?

I mean can you get the equivalent of a 5ghz Intel I9 CPU, plus NVidia 4090 and very fast ram, running MAC OS?
And maybe all of that in a Laptop?

Or is it a case of you guys like the OS, and put up with it not being so good as a PC but better than having to have Windows?

Genuine questions, I'm not making fun here, I just hate Windows these days and want a better solution. I'm very tempted by Linux Mint otherwise, but would prefer a professionally well supported OS which is good on security. Windows has been enforcing online accounts recently so they can hoover up all your data into their cloud storage as opposed to Local User accounts which you manage your own backups, and also becoming a bit lax in its security updates.

The highest-end MacBook Pros do have hardware capable of decent gaming. Looks like a laptop 4090 is something like 33% to maybe 75% faster than an M2 Max, going by people running a 3DMark or that Tomb Raider benchmark on YouTube.

The laptops themselves, while very expensive, are very nice, in terms of overall experience (display, speakers, iPhone integration, battery life and touchpads, those last two especially, are outstanding). Repairability and upgradeability are poor. Everything's soldered down. Apple's concept of repair basically begins and ends with "buy AppleCare or buy a new one", and they use SSD capacity for market segmentation, charging a lot for upgrades.

For gaming though... I'd go with Linux before macOS, not necessarily because of hardware, but because of limited availability of games. It seems like Apple might be trying to make inroads in gaming recently, but at least at the moment, it's still the case that Windows is where all the games are. Second best option is Linux + taking advantage of Valve's impressive work on Proton. If you've already got a Mac, you can buy games that run on it, including some big names, but it skews a lot towards indie games. CrossOver's a great project, but it and Apple's own Game Porting Toolkit are not Proton-level.

Thank you for that, I think I will be going with Linux and Proton for games as you suggest.
I had a look at the Apple site and MacBook Pros, just choosing the spec I wanted took it over £4400, and the price of additional SSD space is ridiculous. For those kind of prices I can go with a very decent top of the range System76 PC laptop machine and PopOS! and have money to spare.

I love hearing it :)

Just make sure you're ready to get into tinkering and sometimes have games not run, especially ones with non-Steam DRM. (mmos, esports, gatcha -- anything with serious anti-cheat tends to be an issue.)

ForlornWongraven: As the game has been released today, as advertised quite some time ago, on other store as MacOS version optimized for Apple's Mx. When will the GOG version get the update?
Since summer sales are now on, I was checking for any updates on this.. I found..nothing.

But when reviewing the GoG page for NMS, I was reminded that, unlike Steam and the Mac App store, it's DRM-free (it says it is, at least). I wonder if that'll be a hold-up for having it come to the Mac? Maybe they don't want a DRM-free Mac version in the wild? For a while, at least.
Another one waiting for the Mac version... it's annoying. As it doesn't seem to be DRM-free anymore, that's not the hindrance, is it?

Is there no official statement by GOG concerning this?

In the official statement of HG, Steam and Apple App Store were explicitely named. I begin to guess that these game distributors might have given HG additional money to have it only on their platforms...

Todays gaming industry is all about 'exclusivity'.... so much for "the client is the king" ... my rectum...

Anyway, I'm not-so-happily waiting together with you all. Maybe play a sudoku in the meantime.
I think we can safely assume that GoG will not be getting the Mac version. If they were going to, then they would be saying 'be patient, we are working on it' or indeed would have said SOMETHING.

I also think we can assume that neither GoG nor the publisher will ever comment on the situation. So basically, I would say that if you want the Mac version of NMS, you should probably go buy it on the Mac App Store. (I would recommend Steam except that I loathe Steam with every fiber of my being so.)
