cod3fr3ak: Cool!

Then post your configs so other people can use them. From what I can tell the game is maxed to run at 800x600. If you want to run it at a higher res, then you will have to do it windowed.
Sure, here's the relevant bits from the nwconfig file:

Cool! I am going to try these now. Let you know.
So I can confirm the config settings Coel posted. Coel, how did you get a fully fleshed out nvconfig file? When I looked at mine it only had a few entries. Even though I ran the config option before I played as well as tweaking things after the main nwn program ran.

As to the original poster, I would uninstall, and reinstall. Run the config option, then extern the startup menu. The edit the nvn.ini and the nwconfig.ini files by hand. Then try to run the game.

Thanks for posts guys - I've tried putting those settings into my own ini files with little luck.

Just to confirm...what shortcut should I be using to run the game?
I'm assuming I need to run as administrator etc.
Should I be launching game from "nwloader", "nwmain" or "nwn"?

This is a lot of hassle!

I set compatibility mode and admin privs on all three of those files. When you put the config entries in, you did modify them to include your own screen dimensions? Did the symptoms change when you tried to run the game?

I actually have my Win XP rig networked to my Win7 rig, so what I did was just copy my entire NWN folder from the XP rig to the Win7 one. Then I renamed my nwconfig and nwn.ini files to .bak and ran the game from the nwn.exe (running as admin). It generated new files, and that's what I got.

If I get a chance, perhaps I'll try reinstalling the game completely and see how it works out.
Ahhh

I see. Interesting. I never got into the habit of copying stuff from machine to machine. Too many bad experiences from my WinNT days. You'd copy something you think only has a local dep, and wind up crashing your machine because there were reg entries of cache files scattered about.

Yeah, I don't generally try that with programs or games. Usually just data. But I have so bloody many mods installed that it was just easier to copy it over. (My nwn folder is 12 GB)
:D

I have a couple of problems with this game myself but I was just slowly working through them. For instance cloaks don't show up on the character. And if I try to change my characters skin color or such the textures won't show up. The character looks like crystal glass. In my research I have had references to a Critical rebuild patch. I am currently searching for it now. If I find the link I will post it. I am wondering if it has something to do with the original posters problems as well.
Got it here.
Also here is a pretty good post with some tips on getting it to run. Funny that the first method they mention is the one you used Coel :p

Sweet. This patch I listed worked in fixing the issue I had. I would love to know it helps the Niall.

Crap, I can't believe I didn't think of this! Yes, indeed, that's certainly a great suggestion for the others to try.
