NWN2:EE is not possible. Beamdog said they could never find the source code to make the necessary changes, they even tried to talk to the original Bioware developers, also searched at the old backups from the Original Bioware office and no luck. Unfortunately, without the source code, the necessary changes cannot be made.

Wait, but Obsidian developed it. So, Obsidian doesn't have the Source Code?

It happens occasionally. The source code for Icewind Dale 2 has also been lost.

Yes, I knew IWD2's Source Code was lost. Damn shame it's lost and nobody's found it.

Would be nice if somebody finds NWN2's Source Code, so we could hopefully get NWN2: Enhanced - but if it's lost....then, "Meh." That bites.

We'll have to keep praying and rolling that Luck stat/skill, eh?

Luck was my dump stat. I think we're screwed :(

As others have pointed out already NWN2 still runs fine these days (with the client extension) and upscales do exist and work as well. The UI can be optimized through XML files.

Only reason to do a EE of NWN2 would be to unhardcode stuff but without source that will not happen...
