nwvault.ign.com is no more. The hosting site for all those thousands of mods, the mods that enriched and enhanced the NWN experience, is down for good. The Vault had been up for many many years, giving all of us a brighter, richer gameplay, and I'd like to thank those responsible for paying the solid cash to keep it going all this time.

Thankfully, all is not lost. All that creative content is not lost forever. As the link above says, all the mods (and even pics) have been copied and will be uploaded onto a new server... eventually. If you want to help expedite that process, follow the link for info on how you can help.

This means that while the content of the Vault is not gone forever, it is gone for the time being (and nothing in life is guaranteed). It will take time to process all their data so who knows when they will be finished. Months? Years? Don't delete whatever mods you have, and kindly share them with those who are seeking.

And give a moment of silence for the passing of the Vault.
Indeed; there was a lot of professional-quality work there. Shame to see it die, although I'm certain that there will be fans who will pick up that torch.
The site is still there; the DNS name resolution for nwvault.ign.com is not working. There are instructions on how to get to it. It may be just a short matter of time before the entire site is removed. But if you were thinking about scanning the Vault for content, you still can, and now is the time to look and load up.
This is a rather surreal experience for me, as I decided to return to NWN after a long hiatus just a few days ago. I was actually on the vault when it went down, it was like it died in my arms.

It's a bit like watching the Library of Alexandria burn in front of us, with a few saintly individuals running in to save the books. I can't even fathom the amount of dead links floating around now- God help you if you're trying to find some modding tutorials.
Damn

Just earlier at work I was thinking I was going to spend the weekend downloading all the mods I wanted to try in case this happened. Would it kill these companies to give people a definitive time line of when they will shut down servers?
Maybe this will make for a less competitive environment where we can have mod compilations so a purge might be for the greater good?

NWN world is dying every day :/ Things are going to be more bad :/
The site us back up. Looks like a false alarm this time but keep on transferring data to the new site. IGN is basically a corporate shill. They make money by selling advertising to the same companies they write about. I can't remember the last time they gave a major publisher a bad review.

NWN's publisher, Atari, has gone bankrupt.

There's no telling how long IGN will put up with headaches like this for a game whose publisher has gone under.

Also we still need to solve this problem for NWN World :/
Atari has declared bankruptcy and will likely be selling off their rights to the license (if they haven't already done so). Bioware has been bought out by EA games. Don't hold your breath for any more changes.

Figures...

There is still the neverwinter2.nexusmods.com, just in case.
