Despite the fact that I still own all my NWN disks I recently decided to download the games from here. I have not played either NWN game in many years and have very little clue what I'm doing. I would love to update the content, modules, portraits, anything really that is optional to possibly improve gameplay. I can't even remember how to get the custom portraits to work lol. I seem to be missing a portrait folder...

Any help updating and getting back into the game would be really helpful!
This page will likely be helpful to you:

It's got links for all sorts of things, from adding new portraits to common large hak packages (used by many modules/PWs) to game enhancements.

Thanks very much. I'll browse through that link immediately!

Edit: I noticed that my client says that my game is only patched through like 1.24, Is this accurate or do I need to download critical updates and more patches?

Also I still can not find the NWN/portraits folder...

The latest patch for Neverwinter Nights is 1.69 (and should be what the gog.com version is already updated to). This is the game neverwinternights.info is build for.

For Neverwinter Nights 2, I'm not sure, but the following thread seems to have all the relevant information as far as patching. It looks like 1.23.1765 is the latest from my short reading of the post by dunniteowl.

For the NWN portraits folder, you may need to just create one in the NWN folder if one isn't already there. It's really only used for custom PC portraits, so it's not a folder created automatically during installation.

I'm not familiar with NWN2, so I wouldn't be the person to ask about that game.

I did not realize that the game was already updated and updated it again using a critical rebuild update. Hopefully that wont cause problems.

Thanks for the info on the portraits folder. I was not aware that I could just create one! Thank you very much for the help and patience.

Ok, so it seems that even after creating a new folder and placing the files there, I still have no new portraits...

After some more exausting research I discovered that I was creating the portraits folder in the wrong sub folder.

Everything is working now.

For other's reference. You create the folder like so.

Computer > OS (C:) > GOG Games > Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition > portraits

and not

Computer > OS (C:) > GOG Games > Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition > nwn > portraits
