Complete noob here.

So as far as I can understand "Shadows of Undrentide", "Hordes of the Underdark", "Kingmaker", "Shadowguard" and "Witch's Wake" are sort of addons in the sense they add content (quests, classes, etc) you can access during a normal playthrough of the main game?

What about "Infinite Dungeons", "Wyvern Crown of Cormyr" & "Pirates of the Sword Coast"? Because it seems some modules are completely new campaigns independent from the game storyline proper.

I'm living in the land of confusion, clarification will be welcome!

Nothing that'd affect other modules in these, and the ones mentioned before just give new classes you can use in every module and some new monsters and such that module designers can use.

The main storyline is just the official campaign.
Shadows + Hordes introduces another storyline (hordes continuing from shadows).

Every other module is a storyline of their own, though there are fan made modules to continue the story if main campaign or the shadows+hordes storyline.
