Trying to play the original campaign. I'm batmanning around the prison district on a bard, and I can't seem to get more than a couple of minutes of play in before the game freezes and crashes. Any suggestions how to make the game more stable? Running on my game machine, a 64 bit Win7 machine, in compatibility mode (XP 3). It was crashing occasionally elsewhere, but close to the prison (or over time) it's really bad.

Does the game just crash to desktop? No errors or anything? Or do you get a "NWN has stopped working..." message? Or does it freeze your whole PC and you have to reboot?

It freezes up, then sometimes the screen blacks; in either case, the only thing I can do is to ctrl-alt-delete to open up the task manager (this screen is flickery); usually when that opens, it is in front of a button saying that the program has stopped running. I've experienced it eventually crashing to the desktop after being frozen awhile at least once.
I'm also having issue with the water just being flickery gray squares, if that matters. that's also an issue.
