For those running into problems using the re-installer...

Make sure you run the installer in compatibility mode: Windows XP (Service Pack 3).

The gods will have blessed thee with no crashes ever again.

Bought the D&D bundle, and its still a problem in 2016.. 3years, and no fix..

Edit: It needed 3 files downloaded, in the correct order.. I got it worked out, but it was confusing to say the least..

Fixed 3 years ago.

I can get it to run either. It crashes my Windows 10 system. Pisses me off.

Weirdly enough, the GOG version didn't work for me on Windows 10 to begin with, I had to install the critical rebuild patch for it to work without crashing, so that's worth a try. All works fine after that.

Then you must have screwed something up.

Because the critical rebuild patch doesn't do anything to a fresh install of the English GoG NWN Diamond.

People repeat what essentially amount to old wives tales with no actual basis in fact, as "fixes" for NWN.

A fresh GoG install is bit for bit identical, to the 1.69 patch.

The patch does nothing to a fresh English language install.

I actually verfied this because I was tired of people giving this useless advice.

I did a fresh install, made a backup copy of it, applied the patch and ran a file comparison.

It changed no files.

It does nothing to a fresh install.

This is right up there with changing your CPU affinity...

Whatever. I cannot be bothered with an argument for something so silly as this - it made a difference to me in that the game actually ran instead of crashing, end of story. As such, it may also help others.

Perhaps the installation files have changed since I downloaded them about a year ago or perhaps other factors are in play here that you are not aware of. Who knows. All I know is it made the game work for me.
