Wait until you get to Hordes of the Underdark. :) Original NWN campaign is quite poor, but the game starts to shine in the second expansion. Anyway, have a good time with the game. :)

Hey, enjoy the ride. This game entertained me for a few months while I was holed up during a pretty rough time in my life. I will always have a lot of love for NWN. I disagree that the OC is poor. It has characters you can care about. It takes care to create situations where any class you've chosen can shine. I still pick it up and run through once in a great while for nostalgia's sake. HoTU is wonderful and packs more replay value, I will agree to that. Make sure you check back and let us know how you're doing!

I'm playing through the OC myself. :)
I wanted a Mithrandir character (that Peter Jackson employed in the third film), who can wield a sword and a staff ambidextrously, whilst incantations fly, so I began with a level of Ranger (for dual wielding) and then carry on as a Mage.
Welcome to the HUGE world of NWN. The Official Campaign (CM) is only a tiny fraction of what NWN has to offer.

BTW, I disagree with people who say that OC was bad. I loved it and finished 2 times and played for a while countless times with different Race/Class combinations. Hold on Lady Aribeth, your handsome orc hero is on the way to save you :)

The flirtation with Aribeth alone makes the OC worth playing.

In comparison to romances in some other RPG's, this relation is really nothing special. So I don't understand the admiration you've gave to it. :)

These were often some later RPGs, that's why NWN1 story was special.

You're somewhat right, but BG2 was before NWN1 and it had really good romances, despite being probably the first RPG that had them implemented. Very emotionally complicated romance with Jaheira and a unique in style romance with Viconia outpace everything we've seen in NWN1.
