I have been playing solo keeping Amie Fern on my team for some time now. She is a Generalist wizard which makes her great for crafting! She has no dialog after West Harbor so is not very interactive but she remains one of my favorite teammates. She is a mandatory member so I have to keep that in mind when choosing rest of the party for a mission. I keep her right up to the end of the game. I have never seen any references on the internet to anyone else keeping her in their party so i was wondering if anyone had? If anyone would like to but do no know how, I would gladly share the little bit of out of game "wizardry".

Amie is supposed to die an unavoidable plot death during the attack on West Harbor. The fact that she is still on your team is a bug. This is why there's no dialog for her; she's not intended to survive past this point in the game.
I am well aware that it is a part of the plot, and her death is always referenced by the NPCs. But I consider my enjoyment of the game to be of greater importance than the strict adherence to the story line. I enjoy the game more when I have Amie on my team. And it is not a bug that I resurrect her. It is some file manipulation on my part so I can keep her in my party. When a game becomes so inflexible that I cannot enjoy it, I do not bother to play it.
So is there anyone out there interested in keeping Amie on the team?
TELL ME YOUR SECRETS, MAGIC MAN!!! Also, if you know how I can get Bevil on my party too, that'd be great.

You can't get Bevil to stay with you after the ruins, it's impossible unless you know a way to skip West Harbor and teleport to the Weeping Willow Inn. As for Amie, in order to keep her, you have to group yourself, Amie and Bevil near a fence to the right just after the bridge, do a quicksave there and reload while trying to get Amie across the fence. It might take a couple of tries but once you do it, it's quintessential that you do not trigger the Tarmas' cutscene, so use the 'Hold this position' command and do your best to recruit the militia. It's easier once you use the 'debug_mode 1' command to see the trigger zones.

When your successful, gratz, you just have another party Wizard who you can't remove. While I was playing I was around near Chapter 3 with her so I'm pretty sure you can play with her until the end of the game.

I was confused right up until you started talking about the cutscene and realized that you basically wanted me to not trigger it, thus I'd have Amie on my party till the end of the game.

If this is what it takes to not lose her, then I'd rather let the game run its course. 'Sides, I remember a long time ago where I got a glitch where I walked by Tarmas and the Githyanki Warlock, and the scene didn't trigger, thus allowing me to keep Amie, right up till the end of the battle, and after I was done with Daeghun.... Well, it's a little hard to describe in words. Suffice to say, it didn't go well.
You cannot prevent Amie from dying, but you can restore her afterwards.
Here is how I usually bring her back.

First you play up to the point just before you enter the mage fight sequence. While Amie is still alive I save the game under quicksave plus two other savegame entries (sounds like overkill I know, but it can make a difference).

Continue playing the game until Daeghun sends you to retrieve the shard. Once you are in the swamp with Bevil quicksave the game and exit.

From Windows copy the 0_amie.ros and Roster.rst from one of the other two savegame folders to the quicksave folder. You will need to confirm to overwrite Roster.rst - 0_amie.ros was already deleted by the game. Now that these two files have been replaced at the quicksave folder, relaunch the game and load the quicksave game.

Use the console givexp command to readjust Amie’s experience points to match yours. Now, VERY IMPORTANT, save the game to a new savegame entry. After that quicksave should work fine.

I have neglected to create the new savegame in the past just to have the game crash when I tried to save and delete my savegame folder.

This procedure will need to be repeated at two other points in the game:

After the Vigil at Solace Glade and After the combat with Lorne.

Probably just need to copy the the Roster.rst file at those two points in the game. 0_amie.ros should still be there.

You will need to be a little bit careful and understanding with her. She was really shaken up by her experience at West Harbor. If she get knocked unconscious, she can lose all of her gear.
I can usually recover her gear if I pick it up before she regains consciousness. Otherwise it tends to fall through an extra-planar portal. You can see where it went, but you cannot get to it. This only happens once or twice though (assuming she gets knocked unconscious).

She is worth it though. She also sticks really close and insists on going on every mission with me. Her security blanket I suppose as I was the one who resurrected her. But I would not have it any other way.

She is loyal and gentle and good-natured, and extremely competent.

This is an RPG after all, so play along ;).

A couple other tips. Apparently the Roster.rst file save experience points for other companions when they are not active in the party. At later points in the game I use gr_dm to make all current companions active just briefly so their ros files can be updated. It makes the process of updating experience points easier after the Vigil and Lorne. I would avoid bringing in companions you have not encountered yet, might cause problems later.

If you see loot sparkles but no bag, and you can't pick up the loot, try setting "Automatically pick up items" to ON under one of your other companions' Behavior tabs on their character sheets. They should be able to automatically pick up the gear even if you can't, as long as they're being controlled by AI at the time, and not by you.

Nice tip, I'll keep that in mind.
Thanks for a cool thing (hack? cheat? work around?) out of curiosity has anyone tried this with Kipp? Yes Neeshka is a very cool companion but as I usually play good characters I think i am going to eventually piss her off enough to betray me. I am late to NWN2 game so haven't made it through the campaign yet. I am guessing after West Harbor you will neither gain or lose influence with companions you aren't supposed to have anyways.

On a side note it would be so awesome if you could do this with Pavel in NWN1 from my perspective as Red Tiger guy two weapon with axe doesn't seem to work that well and Grimmy in short order always makes me feel completely useless as a combatant. Maybe it is a dwarf thing as when I eventually figured out that Khea..Kher whatever dwarf guy in NWN2 will not equip his axe on his own he is a much more effective fighter than my paladin. I had thought he was kind of useless at first as he constantly took insane damage in every fight until I noticed everyone getting attacks of opportunity as he threw punches without the improved unarmed feat.

Magic man.... You've made the good list. Not only did you grant me a way to get Amie back into my party, but I also discovered I can also get Bevil into it, too! And I was ready to resign myself to the fact that I couldn't!

Unfortunately, I recently began replaying the game and got to a pretty far off point into it, when I got to Neverwinter and now have to choose Watch or Thieves, in fact. When I attempted your tip and loaded the save..... I only had Bevil and Amie in my party. And my other companions were in the Flagon still... but they all turned hostile. And when I went to go out the door before anybody died, I found out Bevil and Amie were stuck to me and I couldn't add the others into my party for some reason. Suffice to say, I saw the results of your hack being done too late.

Still, you just gave me a blessing. Hell, I think I'll just replay the game all over with your hack in mind! However, I'm curious, is there a way to remove Bevil and Amie from my party? Not that I really want to, but my story idea for my KC has it that Bevil and Amie go with him to Neverwinter and Amie sticks with him throughout the entire game up until the Vale Of Merdelain, where he gets her to stay at Crossroad Keep to hold the fort (no pun intended), and Bevil leaves my KC's company when the whole githyanki thing is done and they return to West Harbor to give the good news, and Bevil informs my KC he's staying at West Harbor now for good. O'course, he eventually leaves it and becomes a sergeant at the Keep anyway.

So yeah, I just wanna pretend that my playthrough is going exactly like how I envision it.

Edit: A development. I've done the hack after the attack on the village was over but before leaving to the swamp. Amie's here and it doesn't seem like there are any bugs. I tried doing it earlier right after she died, and she came back but she was forced into Puppet Mode, to put it simply. If I weren't commandeering her, she'd stay frozen and not act at all, not move or even attack any nearby enemies. Now though, she's moving just fine and I'm about to test her out into the swamp. If there's no edit in two days, assume that she's working perfectly.

Actually there is an easy way to avoid Amie's death. You know there are cheats in the game (no you don't have to type anything), but I recognized if I type the 'DebugMode 1' which allows you to enter the cheats, the event grounds will be shown where the dialogues start. There is a certain size for all dialogues you have to step into what will make the game drop the event screen, so there is one for Amie's death scene too. If you want to avoid that scene you will just have to avoid the yellow ground and there you go, your wizard lives.

Tried that, didn't work. The trigger encompasses every possible milimetre you could take to pass. In other words, you can't finish the quest and advance in the plot without triggering the cutscene.

And killing Amie.

Therefore, you have to res her.
There is a mod called NWN2_Plot_Fixes that I generally do not use, however it does include a subfolder named "Amie_Lives" which by itself can be put into your override and will cause Amie to be automatically restored to life after the battle. It does seem to work and appears to be compatible with my OC Makeover as well. I do not know if using this results in any problems later in the game.
