I'm curious why GOG is charging nearly $35 for NWN EE and Steam is only charging $30 for the same game? Has anyone else noticed this? However, GOG's prices for other older RPGs are extemely cheap and Steam doesn't even have NWN 2. *shrug*

NWN EE was released on GOG much later than on Steam. It's still a quite new game here. This might be the cause of price differences. The other reason might be the fact that GOG wasn't able to negotiate a better price with Beamdog.
The GOG version is better. Less DRM.
I'm wondering the same thing. During the Winter sale 2018 Steam offers ~75% off, while GOG only offers ~33% off. Not that I'm buying NWN EE at Steam, but this difference clearly shows Valve's negotiation power with their quasi-monopoly.

I think that's purely because it was released later on GOG. I remember of 2 other examples (Age of Decadence,Planescape Torment EE), which had lower discount percents compared to steam because they were released later on this platform.

But the Steam version has the comfort of Steam Workshop for mods. Since Neverwinter Nights is centered around mods, that's a pretty big thing.

Who needs Steam Workshop when we've got the Neverwinter Vault , which has been around a while and includes several years' worth of various types of custom content?
Is it possible for GOG and Steam owners to cross multiplayer? I know it's possible for some games, like Stardew Valley. But not possible for other games like Dying Light.

In NWN1 EE? Yes.
