What's your favorite class or combination of classes to play?

I seem to always wind up picking rogue and then taking levels in mage :)

Anyone?
Fighter-Thief-WeaponMaster
and
Fighter-Thief-ShadowDance
Have been the two main characters I have played.

Both unplanned and without making a power build from with them.

I have not played a mage since the 2.0 ruleset.
I tend to go fighter, 1 level of bard, and then red dragon disciple. The build doesn't have quite the melee power of a pure fighter in its early levels, but once it gets into the mid teens the stat bonuses from RDD turn the character into a real juggernaut.

That sounds fun! I am trying to play a pure wizard, and it is really hard, which seems odd because I can summon critters and have a familar, lol :)

I also like the idea of fighter-thief weaponmaster-- what weapon did you pick?
Pure wizard it is for me, it is always hard at earlier levels (but then again, I have yet to see an RPG where the wizard class is actually easy to play from level 1), but later becomes a walking death machine. With the correct feats, using Finger of death and Maximized Isaac's Greater Missile Storm feel almost like cheating, and that is even before getting the Epic spells.
I also usually pick Elf or Half-elf, for the Bow proficiency - with a good bow, it saves a lot of spells against low-level critters. However, I do find using pure wizard requires a lot of patience for the frequent rests and the multiple buffing spells that have to be recasted after resting.
Thief-fighter (this way so I'll get the initial skillpoints pile).
Thief-Ranger (better match as neither class goes for heavy armor anyway).

Thief-Fighter would probably go weaponmaster at high levels, Thief-Ranger would be a Shadowdancer.

Weapons of choice, I'd say pick whatever you like the look of. Initially there's a big difference between 1-6 and 1-8, but later on when you'll have a 2d6+4 damage bonus it doesn't matter too much. Bashing weapons are practical against skellies and bigger weapons give a knockdown bonus. I'd usually go for either a hefty 2h weapon or 2 light ones (for finesse). You probably won't use a shield, so standard 1h weapons are less suitable.

Champion of Torm is also a neat prestige class, very high saving throws work well with rogues evasion.

Shadowdancer gives that sneak attack - hide - heal - sneak attack -routine, weapomaster hits hard and fast, Champion of Torm has the best staying power.

I've had fun with other classes, but these are the ones I most like playing with. I particularly don't like depending on a limited supply of spells or buffs, add a bit of regeneration and these can pretty much go through an adventure without resting. And there's a big difference in thief 2 - fighter 8 and thief 8 - fighter 2. Even if you go in heavy plate and shield, there's still a benefit from having evasion and the ability to pick an occasional lock or disarm a trap.

damn, now I got the NWN cravings and shakes again...

Oh nice info, thank you :) I am new to this game, though not to D&D :) My wizard is a gnome, (because short people are cuter ;)) and I have to say I am SO happy I have FIREBALL! lol Now there's fun :)

I noticied that it sort of does insinuate into your head--I realized I was humming the opening music while making dinner. ANd thinking about how to try and get a little finesse with my characters-- I have not attempted any of the prestige classes. (hehe, I am stil in chapter one in the original campaign. :) Thank you :)

oh! That's awesome! Thank you :) I will have to go look at those :)
I've been doing a ranger/barbarian/weaponmaster build (longsword/shortsword for weapons) for the OC, and it's been pretty fun. I wasn't going for a power build or anything, but I can beat the hell out of everything I've come across so far, so I'm happy.
My main character is usually a wizard with combination not only in NWN but always in any RPG because simply i like magic and it is usually deeper gameplay.
