Thanks WithinRafael. Game will now run with the Binatone headset which has a much better tonal quality than my other Logitech headset has. Not nocking Logitech...just the model I have. Your fix will improve my experience.

For those having the issue win Windows 10 where the game launches, plays in fullscreen for a split second, then shifts back to the previous desktop, with the game still "running" in the taskbar, and repeats this if clicked on to reactivate it, I found a fix that worked for me.

Dig into the install folder, bin subfolder, right-click on Myst4.exe and open properties. Under the Compatibility tab, check "Override high DPI scaling behavior", then set the "Scaling performed by" to "System".

I suspect that with some (mine is an Nvidia) graphics cards, the card and the app fight over who controls the DPI, resulting in this problem.

Hope that helps some of the people wanting to play the game.

Runs perfectly @ 1024x768, Windows 10x64, version 1903, build 18343.1 (Insider's), RX-590 8GB/480 Crossfire, Adrenalin 19.2.2 GPU drivers. Game build 1.03, GOG.

So far haven't been able to run this on any Windows 10 systems other than ONE time in the beginning and then nothing.

Most everybody said that it was my Alienware Area 51 alx, but now I also have a new HP Omen and have the same issue.

I look back through all of the posts and tried everything suggested and nothing helped. Then I saw where somebody said to check the Windows Event Log to see what is causing this and every time time it is "ntdll.dll".

Not sure just yet what to do to fix this, but just thought I would mention it.

FYI: GOG and Cyan both have given up on my case......

Did you ever get this to work? Tried for the first time today and the same problems as everyone else. Sadly WithinRafael's fix didn't work for me

PLEASE help fix this. Recommended fixes didn't work. I paid for this game. Please GOG make it work for Windows 10.

If the IndirectInput fix above didn't resolve your crash, I'd be interested in a crash dump. Here's how to configure Windows to create a dump when Myst crashes:

1. Open Registry Editor and navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps
2. Create a key (folder) named Myst4.exe
3. Right-click that key and create a new String Value named "DumpFolder"
4. Set the data for that new value to "C:\Dumps"
5. Right-click that key again and create a new DWORD (32-bit) Value named "DumpType"
6. Set the data for that new value to 2
7. Close Registry Editor
8. Create the folder used in step 4 (i.e. C:\Dumps)
9. Start Myst 4 and let it crash
10. After a few moments, go to C:\Dumps and there should be new .dmp file
11. Shoot me an email (rafael@withinwindows.com) and I'll give you a location to upload the file to, if you don't already have one.

I had my WIndows Display > Scale and Layout set to 125%. When I switched it back to 100%, the game launched fine.

Does anyone having problems with savefiles? Mine wont show up... Running as administrator
