Just grabbed Myst IV and was excited to have the wife play these amazing games.
All the other games in the series work with no problems except for Myst IV
Game will launch and then the resolution changes and kicks me back to desktop

Tried verifying install files.
unistalled and reinstalled

Anyone else have this issue or a fix.

Thanks

I definitely have the issue for myst 4, havent been able to work around it either, Myst 3 ran just find though. I tried the solutions on the support page but no go as of yet, will reach out to gog tomorrow.

My issue is after the install the game changes my screen resolution and I get a windows message saying myst4 is not responding. some of the suggested fixes like change compatibility just end up locking my computer up.

If I figure anything out I will reach out to you here, plz do the same
I've seen a few people mention they can't get it to run, in other posts here, myself included.

How many have reported it to GOG support, isn't clear, but somethings wrong.

Also as I believe it's Cyan that made this W10 version, it doesn't use GOG's standard fixes, and it may need to be patched by Cyan themselves. So GOG Support might not be able to help, if problems in the provided game files.

In fact I've not actually seen anybody state they can get it running, but generally those without problems, don't come to these game specific subforums.
I sent off a email to support. Not much help beyond the normal uninstall, re-install, disable anti-virus and run with admin privileges. I did manage to get it to run once, cant remember what I did. But as soon as I tried to change the resolution from 800x600 to 1024x768 in the menu it crashed, have not been able to get it to run since.

After reading this I switched down to 800x600 using detect_config.ini

It didn't run but for the first time I got an unhandeled Exception error in Myst4.exe, which seems to confirm it's an issue with Cyan's W10 changes to the exe, and something GOG support can't fix.
Needs a dev patch.

Any idea on how to reach out to them?
They're not really geared up to provide support for these older titles, which are technically GOG's responsibility.

As far as Mys 3, and 4 are concerned they are not even the developers of those games, they were licensed to Ubisoft.
License has now expired, and rights reverted to Cyan, which is why the digital release is possible now.

Myst III: Exile
Developers - Presto Studios
Publishers - Ubisoft
Engines - Sprint engine
Released - May 8, 2001

Myst IV: Revelations
Developers - Ubisoft Montreal
Publishers - Ubisoft
Engines - ALIVE engine
Released - September 28, 2004

Uru and Myst 5 were made by Cyan Worlds, but on the Plasma engine, so they don't even have experience with those engines.

GOG Support will probably pass on our concerns better than we can.
They have a support site, but it's more knowledge base these days
Cyan Worlds Support Helpdesk

Their Forums still exist and may be best bet for direct contact
CYAN Forums - Index page

Yes and no.

Yes cause we know it does work, and no cause now I'm jealous.
Hahahah the Joy's of pc gaming and having thousands of different hardware and software configurations.
I can't run it either, which is a bummer
this surprises me that you can't get it to run as it runs under windows 10 from the original cd
I also can't get this game to run. Crashes before it even starts.
Well update for anyone who wants to get this game running. Just let it sit there for about 5 min. I left it running and well it finally loaded. Something is going on. But at least I can play the game if I wait.

I suppose you mean 'original DVD' since it was solely released on DVD at the time. Anyway, using the original DVD, this game has never launched on a W10 platform due to the copy protection used on the original DVD. Perhaps you're thinking on a different game in the MYST series?

From what I recall, my W10Pro64 system behaves the same way now with this GOG release of Revelation as it did when I tried to use the original DVD on the same system a couple of years ago. And that is, not at all.

I can get the original discs(dvd) to run under windows 10. And yes your right the issue is the copy protection as it used safedisc and that is no longer supported by Microsoft. So the fix was to use a cracked exe. Even ubisoft was advising to use a cracked exe to have myst 4 work under modern OS's on thier forums. Specifically the hoodlum v.1.03 ctack

Honestly until the GOG release of myst 4 is fixed I'm using my physical discs to play as I can get those to run. And honestly waiting 5 minutes for it to load is a bit ridiculous.
