I finally have real myst going. Trouble is I can't save it at any point. How do I do that? Also can't save and exit. I see no where to do that. I have to bring up task manager and delete it. Of course, then I have to do everything again. I am on Win 7 and have it running as admin and win xp sp3. Any ideas? I can't play it all the way through. I have to save it. I finally got ikt to quit crashing and the sound is on after I installed with the firewall turned off for the download. I skipped the integrity as well because I was getting a missing file.

The escape key(esc) should bring up the menu from which you can save and exit normally is that not happening?

I tried it just a few minutes ago. The escape is the answer. I would not have figured that out so I sure do appreciate your help. At the moment, I seem to be in business with this game.

Happy to help, it is a bit different then the other myst games but If I ever get stuck with not knowing how to save I normally try escape and f1 and f5 keys for starters as they are/were the most used keys to get to menus in older games.

If you own the game on GOG, then a manual is included...;) Very handy for instructions and key bindings, etc.

My REAL MYST game will not save after hitting the ESC button. Any work arounds?

first, let us be clear that the others are talking about the first realtime 3D "realMyst" (released in the early 2000, unfortunately, removed from GOG's catalogue) not the Unity-Engine-based "realMyst Masterpiece Edition" that is still available here.

Second, where do you have the game installed--hopefully not under the Windows-Program folder(s)?

Since it is an early 2000 game (not the Masterpiece version of it, though) it runs best outside of the restricted Program x86 / 64 folders of modern Windows, e.g. C:\Games\realMyst.
