a new version of myst is being worked on for windows and mac. I got the official word from cyan's Facebook page. looks to be the best version of myst ever and looks to be the version cyan wanted 20 years ago.
hopefully it will release soon. and thank god cyan are going to release it for the mac as well.

I wouldn't see why they wouldn't, considering it was developed on Mac on the first place.

well some studios end up releasing remakes on windows only, even if the original was on the mac as well as windows. i was happy to see that cyan wasn't going to make that mistake.

I realize that, but RealMyst is just the artsy game that the [STEROTYPICAL JOKE REDACTED] would eat right up!
So this just came out on Steam, a few hours ago.
Let's hope it will eventually be on gog.com too, since I own all of my (digital) versions of Myst games here. Maybe, it'll have a good discount for those who own the original RealMyst and/or Myst Masterpiece Edition.

But according to Steam forums, and Cyans forum for RealMyst, there are some performance issues reported. Hopefully those will be patched out when the version comes to gog.com (has Cyan ever released a patch for one of their games or will this be a first for them?.

They have indeed released patches for their games, but they generally didn't need to. Myst End of Ages had several patches as did Uru Live. And although MOUL is no longer directly associated with Cyan, it does receive regular updates.

I must say, I wish we had an answer as to whether or not RealMYST: ME was coming to GOG soon, because I want to buy it, and I don't want to buy it twice.

"Not today." Seems like GOG is negotiating.

Then I guess I WILL be buying it twice. I love Cyan and GOG enough that I feel it is worth it.

Huh. I didn't know that Myst End of Ages had several patches. I had the boxed version, and finished it with all its bugs and glitches (only one or two was game/immersion breaking). I'll have to look into that.

URU Live doesn't count for me. I was excluded (due to my country of origin) from almost every iteration, and even the last iteration of it (the free one) still has bugs that I reported years ago. Which of course still exist in the URU: CC offline version that is sold in gog.com.

My other (Cyan) Myst titles (Myst, Myst Masterpiece Edition, RealMyst, Riven) have also not gotten patches, though I could readily name annoying bugs for each of those too, so I wouldn't agree that they didn't release patches because their games didn't need them.

Let's hope that Cyan will be more reactive to user feedback with RealMyst: Masterpiece Edition

Well, when I say they didn't need them, I didn't mean that they were perfect games, I just meant that it didn't affect my enjoyment of them enough to, in my opinion, merit dedicating time and resources to them. I think they are fixing the patches and improving them more easily and successfully by releasing the masterpiece editions.

But yeah, EOA had at least 3 that I remember having to install to get it to run properly.

Keep in mind that the GOG versions are usually the most up to date versions of older games like that, and they come with the previous patches already installed.
Add your vote to the Community Wishlist: realMyst: Masterpiece Edition for Windows and Mac it only has 48 votes so far.
Cyan tweeted "We hope to deliver it on GOG at some point." but they don't have an ETA

To be honest, I trust Cyan, and even if they don't have an ETA, that's good enough for me. I feel they will deliver on that.
At some point?!? I can't wait that long. Hate to have to buy this on steam though.
