This is a bug I noticed on Myst Masterpiece Edition and Riven. Myst III doesn't have this issue.

Steps to reproduce:
Launch Myst Masterpiece Edition
Click "Options"
Enable transitions, or zip mode, or both
OK
Start a new game
Press F5 ingame
Transitions and zip mode are both disabled, as if you never enabled them.

This might be a big deal to the Cyan team, as I know they intend to release a physical copy which can't easily be updated.
