I just noticed that the installer to the game is 120 megabytes while the full installed game is barely 20 mb. What's up with the extra size?

The DirectX 9.0c runtimes, which are required by the game, are included. That way you don't have to go hunting for a seperate download :D

Hope that helps.
I figure the average person that uses GOG already has the latest version of DirectX installed since just about every other game out there has it bundles already. If not, I think the average GOG user would know where to get it and how to install it. Rather than make us download a larger installer, couldn't you just put a link to the DirectX installer on the game's support site.

Large installer? 120 MB is a pittance. I realize for this game the DirectX 9.0c runtimes are 5x the size. GOG can't & shouldn't make the assumption the user has DirectX installed. I would say it wouldn't be worth the support cost alone to have an additional installer option, but apparently support likes busywork. Not sure what other reason there would be for silent updates.

It might be a pittance if you're lucky enough to have a decent ISP with unlimited data. Unfortunately I have an ISP that thinks 50GB per month is enough, so every extra, unnecessary MB hurts. Every version of Windows from Vista and up already has DirectX 9c or later pre-installed. Even Windows XP should have the latest DirectX already installed if it is up to date with SP3 and all important updates from Windows Update installed.

I was comparing it more to a number of other games I have which are north of 1 GB. You can always change your ISP. I guess that only works if the other choices aren't even worse.

I just downloaded the new installer last night and installed it a few minutes ago. After the install, when running the game, it prompted me to go to Microsoft's site and download the DirectX 9.0c updater.

Have you guys thought about making it RUN the DirectX installer instead of just including it since it's pointless to include it otherwise?
